Featured Sessions this Spring
School Improvement and Excellence
This free learning session focuses on teaching and leading learners through the youth mental health crisis. Grounded in brain science, this session provides resources that participants can use as soon as they leave the session.
Social Media has reshaped school culture in ways far beyond phones in classrooms. From group chats and gaming platforms to video sharing and messaging apps, online interactions now drive peer relationships, conflicts, mistrust, and administrative burden that spills into schools everyday. In response, many systems have defaulted to safety-driven, restrictive measures such as phone bans and compliance-based media literacy mandates, often without the resources, research, or capacity to support meaningful change.
Using root cause analysis and relevant research, participants will learn, discuss, and adapt strategies to help students, educators, and families build heathy device habits and critical thinking online.
Educators will also learn about MEandMine, a mental health support tool for the classroom.
Join Student Services Coordinators, School and District Leaders, and SEL Professionals for this powerful and free learning opportunity with presenters from KindEd.org and MEandMine.com.

In-School Suspension Isn't Working - Learn How to Reform It
This session challenges traditional approaches to ISS and repositions it as an IDEA-compliant, restorative, and instructionally meaningful intervention. Grounded in equity-focused discipline research and restorative practices, participants will explore how intentional design can:
- Reduce exclusionary discipline
- Address racial disproportionality
- Ensure continued access to appropriate educational services for students with disabilities
Participants will analyze their current ISS structures through an equity and compliance lens and leave with a clear, actionable framework that integrates academic instruction, social-emotional learning, and restorative supports.

The Next Conversation: Argue Less, Talk More
I marked The Next Conversation as a book to read months ago, and it finally came off hold at my library last weekend. I listened to it while doing some spring cleaning.
The Next Conversation: Argue Less, Talk More is a quick, straightforward read with simple reminders about how to have more productive conversations. While there is nothing groundbreaking, it offers a helpful nudge to listen a little more closely, say a little less, and stay focused on what actually matters - relationships. I know that we all know these things, but the more we hear them, the more likely we are to practice them. That is why I recommend this one.
Plus, there is a bonus PDF chapter I will share below: "How to Handle Narcissists and Gaslighters."

Challenging Beliefs
Food for thought this week: When was the last time you intentionally challenged one of your own beliefs about school? Not because you were in a grad class, but because you were curious. If you’re looking for a place to start, Rethinking Schools is full of publications that invite that kind of reflection. Even a five minute skim of the content will make you think. The latest issue of their journal includes articles on biliteracy, teaching about autism, and making writing less formulaic. I also found a book recommendation and purchased it immediately: American Grammar: Race, Education, and the Building of a Nation. I hope you find something interesting too. 🧠📖😊
