Check out the FOX HOLLOW DHH PARADE!
Fox Families and Community,
This year we have been provided the opportunity to be apart of Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH). This month we will be discussing SELF DIRECT throughout the school and learning how to Think, Choose and Act with others.
This past month, we kicked off Septemeber with a visit from Grandview High School and we always love seeing our former foxes back in the building for the spirit bus parade. We also had our Running to the Max assembly, fundraisers and of course the run! So far our students have wrapped me like a mummy and pied Mr. Hill in the face! Our teachers had an inflatable race to celebrate our students hitting their first goal and we are all so excited for the next round of awards! Thank you to our INCREDIBLE PTO and community for all you do to make this event a HUGE success! The classrooms all made t-shirts and banners and some INCREDIBLE class chants! We also celebrated International Dot Day by having every child in the building create a circle that represents them and how they will leave their mark on our Fox Hollow community. Next time you enter our happy place, be sure to check out our banner! And we also celebrated our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and staff during September for DHH awareness month. Check out the video above.
We look forward to meeting with you during our upcoming conferences after fall break. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and collaborate on their learning journey. Please sign up for a time that works for you. We will send this out soon.
In the spirit of giving, we are hosting a Food Drive from **Oct. 6-10**. Our goal is to collect non-perishable food items to support local families in need. Please see the info below. Food items can be brought to the school lobby during school hours, or dropped off in the drop off line on Tuesday and Thursday morning.
Reminders:
- Please ensure your child comes to school with appropriate clothing for the changing weather.
- As we approach Halloween, please remember that costumes are not allowed during the school day, but we can't wait to see everyone at our annual Trunk or Treat on October 24th.
- Please ensure your child is on time every day. We believe that attendance matters and so does every single minute your children are with us. If your child is out for more than 10 days you will be receiving a letter from CCSD.
We have enjoyed getting to know each child and seeing the JOY each child brings to our school, and we look forward to a fun filled October!

PE Update
WOW! September flew by! 1st - 5th graders spent their first week in P.E. playing different playground games. Students should feel well equipped on how to navigate the playground successfully! Our second rotation focused on teamwork and sportsmanship - emphasizing communication to help the team be successful! Our first sport this year is basketball. Students will work on dribbling, passing, and shooting. We will focus on the skills and games that allow them to practice those skills.
Kindergarteners have worked through spatial awareness and body awareness for their first time in P.E. They then moved on to underhand and overhand throwing, with that they also practiced catching. Next, we will play various games to get students comfortable throwing, catching and moving around the gym.
As always, talk with your kids to see what is happening in P.E.!
Just a friendly reminder that we will have Field Day in May. Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 7, 2026! This fun-filled day is a student favorite and we LOVE to have lots of parent volunteers for it! There will be more information about this in 2026!
Fall Family Runner’s Club just ended and now we will move on to Intramurals for 4th and 5th Grade students. Parent permission is required for this after school activity and space is limited!
Spring Family Runner’s Club will start again in April.
Thank you!
Sabrina McKenna
Music Updates...
Greetings from the Music Room!
We are well into our school year and lots is happening each day in the music room. One of my goals this year is to add more movement into our classes. We have been (and will be) doing lots of movement including both creative expression and structured dances. Ask your students what they remember! Feel free to send me an email if you're looking for music tracks that we did in class or just to let me know that they enjoy a particular activity!
Also, Choir Club is still accepting late entrants! In case you missed the announcement, 3rd Grade is welcome to join in addition to the regular 4th and 5th graders! We meet on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:40. If your student isn't certain or if any of you have questions, please feel free to send me an email.

Art Update
ART UPDATE:
We are off to an amazing start in art this year! Every grade level is starting out with drawing projects to get us in the creative spirit this year! As we progress through the year we will explore more painting, clay and mixed media projects.
ART TO REMEMBER: The fundraiser isn’t open currently but COMING SOON!
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art.
There will be one work of art uploaded with your student’s name. However, you are more than welcome to upload a picture or scanned image of any work!
There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Each student has one uploaded work or art, however, you can select any piece of artwork from home as well! You can use art from a club, choose a piece from earlier in the year, or create something new to submit.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Z
STEM Update
This round in STEM, 5th graders will continue building their paper rollercoasters. Once built, students will measure the height, distance, and velocity of their creation. 3rd graders will learn about coding, and will use Scratch to design a video game.
Also, the Near Space Launch will be in the Fall this year and October 8th is our scheduled date.
Kate Pollick
Check out 1st grade... All About Animals!!
Our 1st grade team worked with our district STEM team to create an exciting activity for students to learn about animals.
VISION AND HEARING SCREENINGS
We will be having vision and hearing screenings on the following dates:
10/21/25-10/22/25:
hearing screenings for preschool-3rd grades, 4th (if new to the district or have an IEP) and 5th grade
10/29/25
vision screenings for preschool-3rd grades, 4th (if new to the district or have an IEP) and 5th grade
You will be notified if there are any concerns with your child’s hearing or vision. Otherwise assume “no news is good news.”
If you do not want your child to participate, please email School Nurse Angie at aschiermeyer@cherrycreekschools.org.
Kindergarten and 1st grade parents:
Please send in a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. This is so nice to have for “just in case” should they have an accident at school.
**If your child has had an accident at school and is given clinic clothing, please wash them (shirts, shorts, pants) and return them as soon as you are able.

Please do not park in this spot before or after school. We do need this space for students.
Last week we had our Fall Lockdown drill. All of our classes and students did a fabulous job! Below is a run down of what this drill typically looks like:
•Our CCSD safety and Security team arrives as well as our SRO and sometimes others from the sheriff's office.
•Our Fox Hollow staff pairs with a rep from the safety team and we divide up the campus.
•Admin makes an announcement reminding students we are doing a practice/ drill and to follow their teachers directions.
•We use our Valcom system to announce and begin the drill.
•Teachers use RedBags to report how many (adults and students) are in their room.
•As pairs we go to each room and ensure doors were locked, we enter the classroom and answer questions if need and we make sure all students and teachers are okay.
•Our safety team monitors RedBag check-ins. From there, they can send and receive status updates and is notified if anyone needs assistance.
•Once all spaces are checked, we make an announcement that we have completed our drill. Students resume their day as normal and a text is sent to families communicating the drill has finished.
Each month we practice our evacuation/ fire drill. Our October one is scheduled for next week! For this drill we time us to ensure we can evacuate in enough time to have all accounted for and ready to go if we truly need to leave the campus. We also have a shelter in place drill scheduled for next week. Be sure to look over the graphic below as this will help you understand the drills we practice.
Early Release Wednesday Reminder:
The last three years, we dismissed all elementary schools one hour earlier (1:45PM) every Wednesday to enhance our elementary teachers' professional development and training opportunities. We had such success with this time we will be continuing this again this school year. In addition, for families who participate in after-school childcare, the after-school program will be extended every Wednesday at no additional cost. For families who need care, you can register with our school's program.
