COUGAR PRIDE BRINGS OUT YOUR CHAMPION SIDE COUGAR PRIDE BRINGS OUT YOUR CHAMPION SIDE

What a wonderful fall conference season at CMMS! 🍁 A HUGE thank you to all of our students and families for joining us, celebrating student learning, and partnering with us in your student's success! We also want to recognize our incredible staff and Booster Club and everyone who helped create such a welcoming atmosphere, from the booths and Book Fair to all the smiling faces throughout our school. We loved seeing our Cougar community come together!

There is so much to celebrate right now! 🐾 Our Winter One athletes are off to a great start, our clubs are doing AMAZING things, and we continue to hear about Cougars accomplishing incredible things outside of school, too! Whether it's athletics, arts, community activities, or personal achievements, we are SO proud of our students and all the ways they shine both inside and outside the classroom. Cougar Pride Brings Out Your Champion Side! ❤️🖤💛

A couple of reminders as we head into November: Monday late arrival is back this week, and Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1, so remember to turn your clocks back one hour! Enjoy that extra hour of sleep (kinda two extra hours with late arrival) and all the fun that comes with this beautiful fall season!

We can't wait to see everyone next week as we continue Building Champions Together! 🐾

We are excited to introduce Cougar Lunch Bunch, a new opportunity for students to enjoy lunch in a different setting while connecting with teachers, staff, and friends! Staff members who are available and interested in opening their classrooms or other designated spaces, can now welcome students during their lunch periods. Whether you're looking for a quieter place to eat, want to spend time with friends, or enjoy connecting with your favorite staff members, Lunch Bunch is another way to feel connected and supported at CMMS!

How does it work? Students can use RTI Scheduler to find two new options: "1st Lunch Alt Location" and "2nd Lunch Alt Location," both highlighted in red. Participating teachers and staff will create Lunch Bunch sessions when they are available to host students. Students can sign up for open sessions themselves or be added to a session by a staff member. Open sessions will be available each morning, allowing students to see which classrooms or designated spaces are available that day.

Our goal is to provide more opportunities for students to build positive relationships, make connections, and feel a sense of belonging at Cougar Mountain. Lunch Bunch is based on staff availability, so participating locations may vary each day. We look forward to seeing our Cougars build meaningful connections, one lunch at a time!

We're heading in a positive direction with attendance, Cougars!

For the last 30 school days, we have been increasing our attendance percentages across ALL grade levels! Our goal this year is to have 64% of our students missing on average 2 days or less per month - that is attending 90% or more the school year. See below for a graphic that shows each grade level's percentage of students attending 90% or more days of school for the past month.

NEW COUGARS GET CONNECTED! NEW COUGARS GET CONNECTED!

New to Cougar Mountain? We’re so glad you’re here! We want you to feel welcomed, connected, valued, and included from day one. Come meet your Counseling Team and learn how we’re here to support you throughout your Cougar Mountain journey! Some of the highlights so far this year:

  • Met with 43 new, out of district, or transfer students
  • Held grade level specific RTI sessions
  • Applied: ASCA Mindset Standard M2 – Sense of acceptance, respect, support, and inclusion for self and others in the school environment. This standard fosters the sense of belonging by ensuring students feel valued, respected, and included.
  • Discussion included: Have you developed a connection with a staff member? Have you made 1 or 2 friends? Are you involved in or interested in any activities, sports, or clubs? Do you know how to access information on the activities you are interested in? Do you know how to access the QR codes for Self-Help, Counseling Team, Campus Safety support?
  • Then tried to clear up any confusion - Is there anything that you’ve been confused about or wanted to know about CMMS but haven’t known who to ask?
  • Will follow up with these 43 students in February
  • Will open a Winter session for new student who've enrolled after October 2026
