October Weekly Update
Week of Monday, October 5th - Friday, October 9th, 2026

🍂 October at Pleasantview Elementary 🍂
Dear Pleasantview Families,
As we welcome the beautiful month of October, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our school year is off to a great start, and we are excited about the learning, growth, and experiences taking place throughout our building.
📚 Learning & Academic Growth
Our teachers continue to focus on providing students with meaningful, grade-level learning experiences that challenge students to think, collaborate, problem-solve, and take ownership of their learning. We are closely monitoring student progress and using assessment data to identify areas of strength and opportunities for additional support.
Families can support learning at home by:
Reading with your child every day.
Asking your child to explain what they learned at school.
Practicing math facts and problem-solving skills.
Encouraging your child to complete homework and assignments.
Celebrating effort, progress, and perseverance.
❤️ Pick-up and Drop offs
Parent be reminded there is no parking in front of the school at any time. During drop-off do not make a U-turn and go back out on to Ash street. If everyone works together the lot is cleared within 8 minutes everyday.
🧡 Building a Positive School Community
At Pleasantview, we continue to emphasize respect, responsibility, kindness, and belonging through our Character Strong model. We are working with students to strengthen positive relationships, resolve conflicts appropriately, and make good choices throughout the school day.
We encourage families to talk with their children about:
Treating others with kindness and respect.
Using appropriate words and actions.
Solving problems peacefully.
Asking an adult for help when needed.
Being a positive role model for classmates.
🎃 October Celebrations
October is a fun and exciting month for our students! As we prepare for our Harvest Day activities, please remember that costumes must follow school expectations. Costumes may not include masks that cover the face, blood or gore, weapons or items resembling weapons, handcuffs, profanity, or clothing that exposes the midriff. Costumes should also allow students to safely participate in the school day.
🏫 Family Partnership
Your partnership makes a difference! We encourage families to stay connected with Pleasantview by checking school communications, attending school events, communicating with your child's teacher, and reaching out when you have questions or concerns.
Together, we can continue creating a school environment where every student feels safe, valued, supported, and ready to learn.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being an important part of the Pleasantview community. We are looking forward to a wonderful October filled with learning, growth, and positive experiences for our students!
With appreciation,
Principal Trice
Together, We Learn. Together, We Grow. Together, We Thrive.

Please help by:
Keeping routines consistent
Scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible
Ensuring students arrive on time each morning
Students with perfect weekly attendance will be recognized weekly!
Did you know...? Why Daily Attendance Matters:
Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.
Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance is a strong predictor of academic achievement and future opportunities.
Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential skills for success in life.
Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships, which are crucial for emotional and social development.
Healthy Routine: Attending school every day establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.
Safe Firearm Storage Information
By law, Michigan school districts are now required to send information home to parents and caregivers annually on the safe storage of firearms. This is in accordance with the “Safe Storage Laws,” MCL 28.429, MCL 380.1313a, and MCL 380.1313b. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services provided this information to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for distribution.
Michigan’s safe storage law requires firearms to be locked and unloaded when minors are present in a home. Guns must be secured with a locking device or stored in a locked container. This law is designed to prevent accidents, injuries, and tragedies by keeping firearms out of the hands of children.
