From the Principal, Stefi Slewitzke
Dear Families,
Thank you for your incredible generosity and support of the Husky Fund! We are so fortunate to be part of a community that invests so meaningfully in our school and students. Your donations help provide enriching opportunities that would not otherwise be possible at Summit Hill.
Thanks to your support, students are already benefiting from additional field trips, hands-on science lab experiences, and other engaging learning opportunities that enhance their education and create lasting memories.
We are grateful for your partnership and commitment to our school community. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
Warmly,
Stefi

Reading Challenge
Our school is excited to be participating in the district's 15 Million Minute Reading Challenge! No matter how you like to read, whether you're turning physical pages, swiping a screen, or listening to an audiobook, every minute counts toward our countywide goal of 15 million minutes read.
Our students have been working hard throughout September and have already logged an impressive number of reading minutes. We would like to recognize our top readers for their outstanding dedication to reading:
⭐ Adeline Howard
⭐ Juliette Holtzman
⭐ Cameron Prasse
⭐ Theodore Howard
⭐ Everly Kruse
⭐ Caleb Franklin
Congratulations to these amazing readers! Keep reading, keep logging your minutes, earn badges throughout the year, and help our district reach 15 million minutes together! The top three readers for each grade level will make a special appearance on the January’s News from the Dog Pound.
Calling All Tech-Savy 3rd-5th Graders!
Summit Hill Elementary invites enthusiastic students in grades 3 through 5 to showcase their love for technology in a local competition happening the week of October 26th. The top project will advance to the Fulton County Technology Fair.
Interested? Visit the Summit Hill website, navigate to the Media Center, and sign up by October 16th. You can participate individually or with a partner, and we encourage you to develop your project at home. All entries will be judged in the Media Center.
Please note: This is a student-only event.
PTO Update: Husky Fund
THANK YOU! Our incredible S.H.E. community raised nearly $211,000 for the '26-'27 Husky Fund, surpassing our $200,000 goal! We reached 100% teacher + staff participation and 70% family participation! Your generosity helps bridge the gap between what Fulton County Schools provides and the programs, resources and extras our students and teachers benefit from every day. We’re excited to keep you updated on how those dollars are spent!
Congratulations to our Husky Fund contest winners!
- Week 4 - Most $ Raised: Ms. Gianndrea’s class received Hero’s Hustle Chain and an ice cream treat at lunch!
- Overall - Most $ Raised: Ms. Bruce’s class earned an ice cream party!
- Overall Highest % Participation - Class: Ms. Vanacore’s and Ms. Richards’ classes hit 100%!
- Overall Highest % Participation - Grade: Kindergarten earned extra recess with 92%!
ALERT: We understand some people are no longer receiving emails from Summit Hill Elementary PTO. We are working with the platform to troubleshoot. If you have not received emails this week about the Husky Fund results and the yearbook art contest AND you are registered on the PTO website Membership Toolkit, please: Search your inbox for an email from Membership Toolkit in the past 3 weeks saying your Membership Toolkit account was updated. Click on the link in that email, taking you to your MTK profile. Review the information, and hit Save. This should reinstate your emails from the PTO. Also be sure to join our SHE Parent Group Me and follow us on Instagram and Facebook, as most updates are shared in those channels as well.
HUSKY FUND HIGHLIGHT: Every S.H.E. class has already participated in its first Discovery Lab of the year! This Husky Fund-supported program brings science to life through hands-on experiments. Thank you to our Discovery Lab leaders, parent volunteers, and Husky Fund donors for making these learning experiences possible! Starting Monday, the second round of labs will begin. Remember to ask your kid(s) what they did in Discovery Lab!
YEARBOOK ART CONTEST - ARTWORK DUE OCT. 23
The Yearbook Cover Art Contest is on! This year’s theme is ONE TEAM. ONE DREAM. Students are invited to show what this theme means to them through artwork featuring Hero the Husky—working together, dreaming big, showing school spirit, helping a friend, or being part of a team. Turn in artwork to our art teacher, Mrs. Elder, by Friday, Oct. 23.
Don’t forget to Order your yearbook: Visit YearbookOrderCenter.com and use School Code: 25806. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to submit candid photos throughout the year at YearbookShare.com using school code 25806. HINT: Submit them soon after you take them, because our yearbook volunteers build pages throughout the year, and they fill up. Be sure to include information about the photo, including students' grade levels and whether there are siblings in the picture.
