PRINCIPAL'S NOTE

Phew, we managed to eek out a school day on Monday! I'll admit that I had visions of celebrating the 4th of July at school. You'll be happy to hear that there is a plan to install a generator at PES that will provide power to the whole school building! I don't have a definitive date for when this will be completed, but that will surely help us next year.

On Monday at our staff meeting MHS school resource officer, Chuck Reece, presented safety training for lockdown and/or evacuation drills. Chief Skroski was also in attendance. We learned new skills that will empower each member of the staff to make decisions about when to evacuate or lock down, based on their individual situations. We will be discussing how we will practice our new procedures with students. It was very informative, and we thank Officer Reece and Chief Skroski.

On a more upbeat note, Chewonki began their annual visit to PES this week. Each grade level selects a program that aligns with its science curriculum. Programs range from tide pools to biomes. These Chewonki Natural History presentations are a favorite of our students, and we thank the Phippsburg Land Trust for their generous sponsorship of this event.

We are all looking forward to sunny weather and teacher appreciation week next week!
