Warren School Weekly Update

May 8, 2026
On behalf of the entire Warren School staff, thank you for the incredible kindness, generosity, and support shown throughout Staff Appreciation Week.
From the thoughtful notes and chalk messages to the delicious meals, treats, decorations, and special surprises, every gesture was deeply appreciated. Our staff felt truly celebrated and valued all week long. The time and effort that families and the PTO put into making this week so meaningful did not go unnoticed.
We are humbled by the overwhelming support of this community and very thankful to work in a school where partnership, kindness, and appreciation are so evident. Your thoughtfulness lifted spirits, brought many smiles, and reminded us how fortunate we are to be part of the Warren community.
This week, our kindergarten and first grade students were also able to experience amazing marionette performances. Thank you to our PTO for bringing in the talented Tanglewood Marionettes to perform Dragon King for kindergarten students and Cinderella for first grade students. We are excited that another great program for all grade levels will be coming to Warren in two weeks.
Don’t forget about our amazing Art Show on Thursday, May 14 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Volunteers are still needed, and we hope to see many families there to celebrate the incredible creativity of our students.
Second grade families, please save the date for our end-of-year BBQ for second grade students and parents/guardians on June 15. Additional details will be shared later this month. Please note that this event is intended for second grade students and their parent/guardian(s) only and is not a sibling event.
Please see the information below regarding busing for next year. Please note that bus pricing will increase beginning June 1.
As we head into the weekend, I would also like to extend warm wishes to all of the amazing mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and mother figures in our Warren community. Thank you for the countless ways you support, encourage, and care for your children each and every day. Your love, dedication, and partnership make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students and our school community. I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation, and special moments with your families.
As a reminder, today, Friday, May 8, is an early release day, with dismissal at 1:15 p.m. This time will be used for staff training.
Have a great weekend
Pete

Growing Strong, Thoughtful Readers This Spring 🌱
What’s Happening in Class
This month, students are learning that good readers don’t just read the words—they think while they read.
Across all grade levels, children are practicing how to stop and ask themselves:
Does this make sense?
What might happen next?
Why did that happen?
“Stop and think strategy”
Readers are learning to pause while reading and check their understanding. These small thinking moments help students better understand and enjoy what they read.
They might:
Reread when something doesn’t make sense
Make a prediction about what will happen next
Talk about what a character is thinking or feeling
Try This Tonight: While your child is reading, pause and ask: What are you thinking right now?” Encourage them to share their ideas—even if they’re not sure yet!
Warm regards,
Kathy Ferrecchia

- Volunteer or donate to a local charity or organization.
- Participate in town cleanup!
- Talk to your child about what you love about your community. Talk about ways you could help improve it even more!
