PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, March 20th
The weather may have thrown us a curve ball this week, but we were able to end the week with a "spring" in our step here at Patton! Special thanks to our PTA Traffic Team for their daily help in keeping our students safe and keeping our arrival and dismissal efficient and safe. We appreciate their welcoming presence in rain, snow, sleet, or shine! They are always looking for more volunteers. Please reach out to pattontrafficteam@gmail.com if you are able to help even one shift a week!
Our Multicultural Night on Wednesday was a huge success and I hope those of you who were able to attend enjoyed the presentations, the performances and the delicious food!
Today, we celebrated all the amazing things we have achieved throughout Trimester 2 at our all school assembly. It was so great to be together before we head off on Spring Break!
Whether you are traveling or staying home for Spring Break, I hope you all have a safe and restful week enjoying precious time with family. I can't wait to hear about spring break from our Panthers on Monday, March 30th.
Happy Spring Break!
Ellie Chin
26-27 SCHOOL YEAR PARENT/GUARDIAN FEEDBACK FORM (NEW POST!)
Below you will find a form you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider class placement for your child(ren). Please know that the placement process for all Patton students is extensive and well thought out. To that end, it is important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. Please do not make friend requests for your child as it is not possible to honor all of these requests. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children.
This form is to be completed by FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026. Please complete one form for each child. Please do not send separate emails as this google form is intended to consolidate all information in one place. Sending separate emails increases the possibility of your feedback not being included in this process.
Thank you so much for partnering with us on this front. Once we begin our process, it is difficult to give new information equal consideration so we appreciate your understanding that FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026 is a hard deadline.
SPRING SAFETY DRILLS (NEW POST!)
Please be aware that we have 2 Safety Drills taking place in April. Please try to avoid early pickups/late drop offs on these days.
Wednesday, April 8th - Bus Evacuation Drill
Friday, April 10th - Spring Lockdown Drill in partnership with the Arlington Heights Police Department. Please do not be alarmed if you see police presence at Patton.
GYM, RECESS AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES (NEW POST!)
Excusing Children from PE - Physical Education
Parents may request that their child be excused from Physical Education for one day due to a medical reason. Any absence beyond one day requires a physician’s note.
For elementary students, physician orders must clearly state any restrictions for both Physical Education and Recess. Students who are unable to participate in Physical Education may not participate in school-sponsored sports during that time.
Excusing Children from Outdoor Activities / Recess
Elementary students regularly participate in outdoor activities during Physical Education classes, daily recess, and the lunch period. For the safety of all students, children are expected to go outside during these times unless there is a documented medical reason. If your child needs to remain indoors, a physician’s note is required that specifically states the outdoor restriction.
After School Activities and Events
Students absent from classes on the day of an extracurricular event may not be allowed to participate in that day’s activities or event. Prior planning by parents and school helps eliminate any such conflicts.
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT - THANK YOU (NEW POST!)
The Patton commons was filled with enticing sights, sounds, and smells as we celebrated all the amazing cultures that make the Patton community so fantastic! We travelled the globe, listened and watched amazing music and dance performances, ate delicious food, and learned about all the different cultures and heritages represented at Patton!
Thank you to Mrs. Gabianelli, Mrs. Boyle and our 5th graders in Multicultural Club for organizing this event. Thank you also to all the families who prepared wonderful displays, food, and games to share about their culture! Thanks also to Mrs. Maloney for the wonderful Cultural Arts Exhibit she set up full of student art work! We certainly have some very talented artists here at Patton!
I hope everyone who attended left with a full belly, and a warm and full heart after learning more about what makes our Patton community so great!
S.T.E.A.M DAY (NEW POST!)
On Thursday, our Panthers enjoyed a fun and informative S.T.E.A.M morning! Organized by Mrs. Cioni and Mr. Morkert along with a team of teachers, students took part in exciting S.T.E.A.M activities such as bubble labs, Lego building design challenges, roller coaster marble runs, laser relays and more! It was so wonderful to see the students engaging with the projects and learning in such a fun way!
PE TRIMESTER 2 NEWSLETTER (2nd Post!)
Our wonderful PE teachers, Mrs Rabinowitz and Mrs Levin, have put together this amazing overview of all the fun things the students have been up to in PE during Trimester 2! Winter sports and the Olympics featured heavily as well as our brand new tumbling equipment! It was a wonderful trimester by the looks of it!

5th GRADE - THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL MIXER (2nd Post!)
Calling all 5th Graders - Our Next Future TMS Mixer is Set!
Join us at Get Air Trampoline Park on FRIDAY, APRIL 10th from 6:30pm - 8:00pm to mix and mingle with other AHSD25 students who will be attending Thomas Middle School next year!
The Arlington Heights Council PTA invites you to our Spring 5th Grade Mixer event! Join us for a low-key, high-fun night designed especially for our incoming middle schoolers! We’re heading to Get Air for cosmic lights, great music, and plenty of time to jump, laugh, and connect with new classmates. There will also be a creative crafting station for anyone who needs a break from bouncing, plus a snack to keep everyone fueled. This is a drop-off event, giving students a chance to build independence while making new friends in a safe and supervised environment. Cost is $20. We want all students to be able to attend. If finances are a concern, please reach out to your school’s social worker.

K-5 INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM RESTRUCTURE (Final Post!)
Please read the message below from Diane Kaffka, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
You may have noticed in the staff news that was erroneously sent to families this morning, a message regarding the restructuring of our K-5 Instructional Program which includes a reference to Patton Elementary School. Our intention was to first present this information at the upcoming Board of Education meeting and then provide an opportunity to meet with the Patton community to share details and answer questions.
The K-5 Instructional Program is a district-wide program currently located at Windsor Elementary School and we determined the need to restructure to a dual-site model which includes opening two classrooms at Patton Elementary School to welcome students who require that level of support and live in the north-side elementary schools (Thomas Middle School feeder schools). This approach will allow students to begin developing foundational relationships with peers who will attend the same middle school, fostering long-term social stability. It will also help families in that area build a stronger sense of belonging and connection to a school closer to home.
We are presenting a phased plan beginning in the 2026-27 school year welcoming kindergarten through second grade and gradually expanding to all grades by the 2029–30 school year. This phased plan will allow us to thoughtfully integrate the program while maintaining the high standards of support and care that define our school and district programs. We will be offering an informational meeting with the Patton community in the future. More information to come!
4th and 5th GRADE RUNNING CLUB (Final Post!)
4th and 5th Grade Spring Running Club
Are you interested in joining a club focused on FUN and FITNESS? If so, join Running Club!
Running club meets on Mondays in April (4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27) from 3:35-4:30pm. Each session will begin with a warm-up, 30 minutes of running at your own pace, and finish with a cool-down. Mrs. Goumas is the club sponsor and Carolyn McCarty is the PTA volunteer.
Parent volunteers are VITAL to the success as they provide a safe running path. Please sign up to volunteer for at least one session if possible.
Please note: The club will not meet if it is raining.
Once you sign up, more information about the club will be sent your way.
Thank You!
