SHRHS Library Needs Your Help!!

Our current students use our collection of yearbooks quite often throughout the year for various projects. Can anyone help make our collection complete?

The library has at least one of every SHRHS yearbook from 1974 - 2023. We also have the Charltonian Yearbooks from Charlton High School between 1959 - 1974, but we are missing 1960.

If you have a copy of the 1960 Charltonian that you would be willing to donate, please contact Mrs. Briere @ sbriere@dcrsd.org. Thank you!

Class of 2012's Dave Carlin finds healing in music as Hazel Bloom

Since he was 13, alum Dave Carlin ('12) has been writing and playing music. He had always known that he wanted to be a musician and has been part of countless bands over the years, but felt that branching out on his own was the best thing for him to do, and thus Hazel Bloom was born.

He writes, "With music being my main motive in life, I decided that if I want music to be my career, I need to take full control of the music as well as the business aspect. Relying solely on myself for writing the music, performing, and business planning, it's definitely been a lot of work. However, I find it rewarding seeing my self-grow as a person, as well as my music career.

Throughout 2024 I had a goal to release a new song every 2 weeks for the whole year, so I have a lot of new music and albums out. I definitely think my newest music is some of the best I've ever released and I'm very proud of each song. My music is available everywhere you can think of online (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etc...) and you can find all of those links plus some others here: https://go.hazelbloomofficial.com/music.

I also started this solo career as part of a healing process. Hazel Bloom is a platform I use to express feelings related to depression, anxiety and personal life experiences. It’s truly beautiful to me that I can create an art form that signifies a specific point in time in my life. A type of time machine I can look back on and personally feel what I was going through at the time. I’ve always known that nothing rewarding comes easy. To get to where you want to be it takes discipline, perseverance, and courage to keep going even after
countless failures.

Even when people knock you down and don’t believe in you, you always have to remind yourself to get back up and keep going. I always remind myself that if I keep working hard, I will succeed."
