Midview Community,

Yesterday marked the official end of our first quarter and the second month of the 2025–26 school year. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming students back into our halls, and now we’re already turning the page toward the holiday season. Time truly flies when great things are happening across our district.

Each day, our students continue to amaze me—not just with their academic growth, but with their character, creativity, and care for one another. And of course, at the forefront of their success is our incredible staff, who go above and beyond to create engaging lessons, support students, and keep our schools running strong. Their commitment is what makes Midview such a great place to learn and grow.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve heard from many community members about the new facilities project (details below) and, understandably, about our long-term plans for Midview High School. I want to take a moment to address that directly and share some context.

As part of our recent strategic planning efforts, we heard strong community support for exploring a new high school—and I completely agree that it’s a needed and necessary goal for our future. However, large-scale school construction in Ohio goes through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), which helps oversees and fund school building projects across the state. Like many districts, we’re currently in the OFCC’s queue, waiting for our turn to move forward. One of my first actions as Superintendent was to formally notify the OFCC of our readiness. Based on their current schedule, we anticipate that opportunity will likely come within the next three to five years. I, like everyone else, am eager for that day to arrive and cannot wait to give our students and community a facility they can be proud of!

The reality is that building a modern high school costs upward of $100 million, which no district can shoulder alone. That’s why we’re being strategic and responsible—completing projects now that strengthen our campus, enhance student opportunities, and prepare us for that next big step. The upgrades to our athletic facilities, including the new multi-purpose complex, are part of a long-term vision to create a cohesive, connected campus that’s ready for the future high school when the time comes. Funds from the OFCC cannot be used on these types of facilities and the district could not pass up the opportunity to provide our community with these facilities at no extra cost to taxpayers.

In short, these improvements aren’t a substitute for a new high school. They’re an investment in our students today and a foundation for tomorrow. When the state calls our name, Midview will be ready to move forward quickly and confidently.

As we begin the second quarter and head into the heart of fall, I want to thank everyone—our families, staff, and community—for your continued partnership and support. Together, we’re building something special here, and I couldn’t be more proud of where we’re headed. If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at fmajor@midviewk12.org or 440-748-5353.
