Message from GHS Administration Message from GHS Administration

It was a busy week at Gainesville High School! Between Homecoming celebrations and the PSAT, GHS students and staff have done a lot. We are proud of our students for their participation in Homecoming spirit days, the game, and dance, and we would like to thank your SALC (student leadership) students for their hard work, dedication, and creativity.

Also, a big congratulations to Cardinals marching band for another 1st place finish! The marching band did phenomenal at the VMBC Dominion Invitational competition. Great job, Cardinals.

Touchbase Conferences – November 3

GHS will be hosting Touchbase conferences on November 3, 7:30-9:30 a.m. There is no school for students this day. Touchbase is an opportunity for families to have a brief 2-3 conference with their student’s teachers. If a longer conference is required, families are asked to schedule those directly with teachers. We will also be offering information sessions on topics such as helping your students to be successful in AP classes, a senior family Q&A, and student mental health. A full schedule will be posted on the GHS website in the coming days

2025-2026 Yearbook

These are the days your teen will want to remember forever. Help make the year unforgettable by purchasing a 2026 Gainesville High School Yearbook. Buy online with credit card, debit card or PayPal at yearbookforever.com or at school with cash or check made out to Gainesville High School in room 2005. We still have a few copies of the 2025 books available for sale, if you missed our sale at the end of last year, pick up your copy from Mr. Jou for $85 in room 2005.

PSAT Scores

Students that took the PSAT on October 16 will receive an email or a text (if they provided a phone number) when their scores are ready. We anticipate the College Board to release scores around November 14.

Impact Aid

Please complete the Impact Aid survey by November 30, 2025. The following are a few key facts from the Impact Aid website to provide you further information about Impact Aid:

  • School districts with military installations or other federal lands within their boundaries lose local revenue because of nontaxable federal activities. Impact Aid funding partially reimburses school districts for this loss of locally derived revenue.
  • Federally connected and military connected are not the same. Parents can be federally connected but are not military connected. This is why it is important for ALL parents to complete the Impact Aid survey.
  • Since enrollment changes and students move from year to year, the U.S. Department of Education requires school districts to count students annually.

The Impact Aid survey is live in ParentVUE. Completing the survey takes less than 5 minutes. Thank you in advance for your support!

MLK Youth Oratorical Competition Interest Meeting

Calling all student speakers and future leaders! We’re excited to announce the upcoming MLK Youth Oratorical Competition, sponsored by the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Winners can earn cash prizes and gain valuable public speaking experience. All students interested in competing or learning more should plan to attend our interest meeting on Wednesday, October 22, from 2:30–3:00 PM in the Extended Learning space. We hope to see you there!
