Ben-Hem Bobcats

September 19, 2025
Dear Ben-Hem Families,
We’ve had a wonderful week at Ben-Hem! Today our first graders enjoyed a special visit from author, Pam Vaughn, who shared her book Tenacious: Not Giving Up. Her message reminded students of the importance of perseverance and sticking with challenges, even when things feel tough.
Over the past few weeks, I have loved spending time in classrooms reading with students across all grade levels. In kindergarten and first grade, I shared The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright, a story about courage and finding your voice. With our second, third, and fourth graders, I read America’s Dreaming by Bob McKinnon, which celebrates the importance of welcoming others. This book felt especially meaningful as I am so grateful for the warm welcome I have received from the entire Ben-Hem community!
Reminder: No School on Tuesday, September 23rd
School will be closed on Tuesday, September 23, for Rosh Hashanah. We wish all who celebrate a joyful holiday—Shanah Tovah!
Warmly,
Jordan Hoffman
Interim Principal
A Few Friendly Reminders:
Safe Arrival at Ben-Hem Safety is our top priority! Families using morning drop off are asked and expected to follow these simple rules:
Follow the traffic and wait for the cars in front of you to unload. Please do not pull out and move around cars in the drop off line.
We understand some children need support getting out, and we ask that you pull into a parking space to assist your child. Please do not get out of your vehicle in the drop-off line.
Students should exit their vehicle on the passenger side only.
Please refrain from using cell phones in the drop off line.
Please have patience with those in front of you. We want everyone to have a safe drop off experience to start the school day!
Mark Your Calendar – October 16th 6:30-7:30pm
Join us in the library at Ben-Hem to learn how we’re helping students thrive—both inside and out! We’ll share about our social-emotional curriculum, Wayfinder, as well as our Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions (PBIS) work, which is rooted in Ben-Hem’s core values of taking care of ourselves, others, and the world around us. Free babysitting will be available.
