NRMS Summer 2025 Reading List
In partnership with our faculty and district town librarians, our Librarian, Ms. Hoffman, has put together an awesome reading list for this summer! Students who read at least four books as noted will receive a certificate, a prize, and a celebration in the fall. Please click this link NRMS Reading List to view/print the reading list, as well as the book tracker. Happy reading!
IMPORTANT UPDATE - Download Nauset App Today
The Nauset Public Schools will no longer be using ParentSquare for school-related communications. We have transitioned to Thrillshare, which is connected directly to our website. Please be sure to download the app and be on the lookout for school information to be sent via Thrillshare and the App.
Additional Information About Thrillshare for Communication Between School & Home:
We are excited to share that the Nauset app is now your one-stop shop for all things Nauset, K–12. As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline communication Pre-K-12, Nauset Public Schools has transitioned away from ParentSquare and expanded the district app to include Rooms by Thrillshare. This new feature allows for two-way messaging between families and teachers, classroom announcements, and automatic translation. Families who participated in last spring’s soft rollout helped shape this districtwide launch. Once your account is set up, you can access all school and classroom communications directly within the Nauset app or through a web browser. You will continue to receive important updates via text message, email, and phone call to ensure you stay informed in the way that works best for you. To support this system, please make sure your contact information is accurate and up to date in Aspen, our student information system. If you have not already downloaded the Nauset app, it is available for free in both the App Store and Google Play Store.

It is important to note that NPS staff members with children enrolled in Nauset Schools must use a personal email address when setting up parent accounts. District email addresses cannot be used for both staff and parent access.

Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
We have turned the calendar to August and the start of school is just a few weeks away. Here are some early August updates for families. We continue to receive new student registrations. As new students are enrolled, we often make adjustments to student schedules to maintain balanced class sizes. We know that the elementary schools will soon be sharing class/teacher assignments with families, as early as Friday August 8. Early next week our new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brand, will share additional welcome information with families. At noon on Friday, August 15, we will open up access to the student portal and the parent/guardian portal in Aspen. This will allow those with Aspen login information the ability to view student schedules for the 2025-2026 School Year.
At NRMS, we will be mailing home information, including Aspen login information, to the parents/guardians of new students and all 6th graders. Be on the lookout for this mailing the week of August 18.
For all students and families, please note that we will be making some adjustments to student schedules right up until the first week of school in September. However, most schedules will remain unchanged after the portals are opened on August 15. We have already taken into account requests for schedules as much as possible. Any additional requests received may not be possible to honor, as we strive to create the most balanced grade level teams and class sections. Inquiries about student schedules should go through the grade level counselors who will make note of requests.
Our goal this year is for families to sign off on having read the technology acceptable use policy and the handbook, as well as complete other forms digitally. Please be on the lookout for additional information about how to do this. I have linked above a summary of the most searched items in our handbook. Please review this information.
Also new this year, we will be hosting three opportunities for all incoming students in Grade 6 and any new to Nauset students going into grades 7 or 8 to attend an information session where we will distribute Chromebooks to students. These meetings are tentatively scheduled for:
Monday August 25 at 4pm
Tuesday August 26 at 4pm
Friday August 29 at 9am
At these meetings, parents and students who have not already done so online, will sign off on the technology use agreement. Students will receive their Chromebook and have an opportunity to tour the school. Every student at NRMS is provided with a Chromebook that will be their device to bring back and forth from school to home for the three years at the middle school. It is imperative that students do whatever it takes to take care of this device and arrive at school with the device fully charged.
As mentioned in the newsletter in July, we will be strictly enforcing our off and away expectation for cell phones and smart watches. Each student will be assigned two lockers and one lock. The lock should be used on the locker that will securely hold the student's smart powered-off devices and should not be accessed during school hours. The other locker will hold the student's notebooks and class materials. We strongly encourage families to hold off on purchasing smart phones and smart watches until students get to high school. If your child already owns these devices, please turn off all notifications. Please also refrain from texting your child during the school day.
At our open house event on Thursday September 18, I will host a discussion on the book, The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt—a powerful and well-researched book that explores how the rise of smartphones and social media is impacting the mental health and development of our children. The discussion will focus on key takeaways from the book and how we can work together—school and families—to support healthier habits for our students. I encourage all parents and guardians to read the book in advance of September 18.
Last call for members of the NRMS Crew!
I am seeking some current 7th and 8th graders to become the NRMS CREW - a group of student-leaders who can assist with tours on these orientation days and throughout the school year. If your child is interested in becoming part of the Crew, please reach out. I will meet with the Crew to train them on their role as tour guides and ambassadors for our school as well as get T-Shirt sizes to order their official NRMS CREW gear on August 21 at 2pm. We have about a dozen students on board so far.
Enjoy August!
