MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

Dear Centennial Community,

Over the past three and a half months, many people have asked me, “What do you think of Centennial?” My answer is always the same: Centennial is an extraordinary place for students to learn, grow, and thrive. We are fortunate to have a supportive community, parents who value education, a dedicated faculty and staff who care deeply about students, engaged administrators, and—most importantly—truly remarkable students.

Since September, I’ve been hosting student focus groups at all six of our schools to gain a deeper understanding of how our students feel about their school experiences, the district, and their learning journey in Centennial. My goal is to meet with more than 1,000 students and to share a comprehensive report of their feedback in June. This valuable input will help us set goals and make meaningful, ongoing improvements to ensure dynamic learning opportunities for every student. The conversations have been insightful and inspiring, and I continue to be impressed by our students’ thoughtfulness, honesty, and perspective. Their voices play an essential role in shaping our collective growth and success.

In addition to engaging with students, I am also hosting parent and community meetings at each of our schools to better understand the priorities and values of our Centennial families. Please refer to your school’s Home and School calendar for meeting dates and consider joining us to learn more about district initiatives, instructional approaches, and other important topics. Prior to each meeting, we will share a brief survey to gather your input on areas of interest. I look forward to connecting with many of you and hearing your perspectives.

There is so much to celebrate across our district—from academic achievements to artistic accomplishments and athletic successes. Your continued support and involvement are vital to our students’ growth, and I am deeply grateful for all you do to make Centennial a place where learning and excellence flourish.

With appreciation,

Abe Lucabaugh
Superintendent

ACADEMICS ACADEMICS

Dear Centennial School District Families,

We deeply value you and your family as partners in your child’s education and overall well-being. As part of our commitment to creating safe, supportive, and healthy learning environments, Centennial School District will participate in the 2025 Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) this fall. The PAYS is a confidential survey that asks students about their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to topics such as school climate, mental health, family and peer relationships, and the risk and protective factors that influence youth decision-making.

The PAYS is sponsored and conducted by the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Administered every two years statewide, the survey provides data that help schools and communities guide prevention efforts, improve student supports, and strengthen programs designed to keep young people healthy, safe, and thriving. You can request a list of the survey questions by visiting this link: https://epis.psu.edu/PAYS/question. For more information about the survey, including a list of Frequently Asked Questions, please visit www.pays.pa.gov. More information about the survey and the most recent data for our county can be found on the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission website.

Centennial Survey Window: November 12–26, 2025
Centennial Students Participating: Students currently enrolled in Grades 8, 10, and 12
Centennial Administration Format: Confidential online survey completed during the Social Studies class (approximately 30–40 minutes)

Participation is voluntary, and all student responses are anonymous—no names or identifying information are collected. Results are reported only in combined form and are used to identify trends, secure prevention funding, and develop targeted programs and supports for youth.

We encourage participation, as the insights from this survey help us better understand and respond to the needs of our students and community. However, families who prefer to opt their child out may do so by completing this brief opt-out form by Friday, November 7, 2025 (by 4:00 PM).

Thank you for supporting this important effort to improve the health, safety, and well-being of Centennial students. If you have any questions, please contact us at 215-441-6000, ext. 11006.

Sincerely,

Althea Tomlinson

William Tennent Choir Students Learn from University of Delaware Assistant Professor Dr. Luke Williams

On Thursday, October 23, Dr. Luke Williams, Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Delaware, visited William Tennent High School to work with our select choirs, Madrigals and Chorale. Dr. Williams led an engaging session on how the human voice works, exploring both the science and artistry of singing. Students learned about the larynx and vocal folds, the Bernoulli principle of aerodynamics, and the three key components of healthy singing: respiration, phonation, and resonation. It was an inspiring day of learning, discovery, and music-making for our student vocalists!

Klinger Kafe is Back!

Klinger Kafe is back for the 2025-2026 school year! Students in Ms. Reese, Mr. Reitz, and Mrs. Teeple’s rooms work together to run a student-led cafe for faculty and staff.

The cafe offers a variety of items including baked goods, hand-crafted drinks, and various snack items. The student-led cafe provides opportunities for students to strengthen their vocational and social skills. Students organize cafe inventory, take food and beverage orders from staff, prepare and deliver orders throughout the building, and account for the money collected from orders as well as the profit made.

New this school year is an option for staff to pick-up their orders for a true cafe style experience. This opportunity allows students to stock baked goods in a display case, organize and distribute drinks from a set station, and utilize a printing calculator to total orders and create receipts for customers. This pick up option allows for students to work on a number of new skills to prepare for future employment opportunities.

We are off to a great start with 40 orders from faculty and staff, our highest number of orders in recent Klinger Kafe history! We cannot wait to try to top this number as Klinger Kafe continues throughout the year!

The Log College Annual Fall Dance

One of LCMS's favorite traditions, the Fall Dance was a big hit as students had a great time dancing, listening to music, and just spending time with their friends. Some dressed to the nines, some dressed in costumes, but all came to have fun. And for the fifth straight year, the weather cooperated!

Log College's Fall Pep Rally!

Log College Middle School celebrated its Fall athletes as they prepare for their final contests against Klinger Middle School over the next few weeks. In addition, students who excelled academically in the PSSA or i-Ready tests or who showed tremendous growth, were recognized.

Log also recognized five of its teachers for obtaining PVAAS scores that scored beyond the "Well Above" mark on the PA state ratings scale. This is an outstanding achievement.

Climate/Culture Surveys

The Climate & Culture Survey (November 12-26) will be open to students, families, and staff members to assess key aspects of school life, including topics such as school climate and safety. More details about this will be shared closer to the survey window.

The survey data will help us identify effective school and district practices as well as gauge your child’s growth toward the PA Career Ready Skills. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 215-441-6000 X11026.

Hello, Parents and Guardians, and Welcome Back to Another School Year!

Please take a moment to ensure you’ve completed the Nurse Card, which includes permissions for over-the-counter medications during the school day. You can find it under Family Access > Beginning of the Year Information.

As a reminder for our younger students, please pack an extra set of clothing to keep in their backpack in case it’s needed during the school day. We also kindly ask that students wear closed-toe shoes to help prevent injuries and falls during recess.

We look forward to another great year working together with you!

As the fall season brings beautiful changes to our surroundings, it can also bring an unwelcome challenge — head lice.

The 29th Annual Celebration of Bands

The 29th Annual Celebration of Bands took place on Saturday, October 18th, hosted by the William Tennent Marching Band and Music Boosters Association. This prominent event brought together marching bands from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware for a thrilling competition. Each participating band showcased their meticulously rehearsed performances, featuring an array of musical genres, including patriotic, pop, rock, and classical, paired with elaborate costuming and props. As the grand finale, the William Tennent Marching Band presented 'Killer Queen's Gambit,' earning their highest score of the season, an impressive 80.90. The event was attended by several School Board members, along with WTHS Principal Dr. Carracappa, and Superintendent Dr. Lucabaugh, who presented awards to the top-performing bands. Under the expert guidance of Salvatore DiPaolo, WTMBA President, and Michael Binder, Celebration of Bands Chair, the William Tennent Music Boosters Association ensured the event's success, and we eagerly look forward to an even more exceptional show next year.
