With only 9 days of school left, we are wrapping up the 2024-2025 school year strong. Last week, we kicked off the end-of-year activities with a Spring Festival and our 8th-grade party at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Both events were a success, with lots of fun, celebration, and community.

This week, we are hosting the final Scholar of the Month on Monday, administering the Student Wellness Pulse Survey on Wednesday, and celebrating our 8th-grade students with the Sneaker Ball Formal on Friday afternoon. There is a lot to share this week; please review the newsletter updates below to stay informed.

Last week, JLA staff celebrated the Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) who support our students and community all year. These parent volunteers come to campus to support various events, including Lunch with a Loved One, 8th-grade activities, field trips, school festivals, and music performances throughout the year. Our VIPS play a crucial role in making these events and activities even more special for our students. Thank you to all the VIPS who joined us this year.

When picking up your student before school dismissal, please plan to pick up your student before or after the lunch period. To support lunch supervision, all support staff are unavailable, and we will not be able to release students who are at lunch. Please plan ahead and pick up your student before or after lunch.

Computer Engineers of the Next Generation (CENG) is offering free online coding classes designed specifically for high school students of all experience levels — from absolute beginners to advanced coders.

Summer 2025 Course Offerings (June & July):

Note: Some courses may require prerequisites.

All courses are taught by trained high school volunteers who provide interactive instruction, personalized support, and help students build a final game or app project by the end of the course.
