Meet Paige Adams, our Regional Lead!

My name is Paige Adams and I am thrilled to join you as the Professional Development & Partnership Lead at The DBQ Project! I have the privilege of training and supporting districts and teachers alongside Beth Montgomery, and I am dedicated to promoting and expanding the reach of our exceptional program.

I have been in Colorado since 2017, and I am passionate about education. I started my career with Teach For America in Denver, teaching Special Education in a low-income community. During my six years there, I became a Special Education Coordinator and Instructional Coach at DSST: Cole Middle School. I also hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado.

I believe in the power of writing to clarify thinking and that quality education should be accessible to all. I'm committed to providing professional development that empowers educators and enhances student performance.

My Commitment To You:

  • Professional Development & Training: I'm here to offer excellent professional development, whether in-person or virtual, to help you grow as educators.

  • Collaboration: I'll closely collaborate with you and district partners to tailor our support to your unique needs using The DBQ Project.

I'm thrilled to work with each of you. Please reach out to discuss how we can enhance your educational journey with The DBQ Project.

What Professional Learning Options Does The DBQ Project Offer?

Getting Started: This hour long session introduces teachers to DBQ Online. Participants learn to create classes and assignments, provide feedback to students, and customize and differentiate using DBQ Online.

DBQ Online Overview: This 2-3 hour session introduces teachers to DBQ Online and The DBQ Project 6-Step Method. In addition to learning what is covered in "Getting Started" participants dive into 6-Step Method logging in as students to see how students experience the platform, practicing using the annotation tools, the audio read aloud, and essay builder features.

DBQ 1.0 Workshop: This 5-6 hour session provides teachers with a strong foundation in using the DBQ Project 6-Step Method as an instructional resource. Participants do an abbreviated Mini-Q together experiencing and discussing the 6 Steps and they leave the workshop with annotation and reading strategies, activities for teaching academic discourse, and ways to help students become better writers.

DBQ Follow-Up Workshops: Follow Up Workshop target specific skill gaps teachers want to explore further. These build on the introductory 1.0 course. Topics include digging deeper into close reading and document analysis, choosing evidence for better writing, developing argumentation and reasoning skills, and alternative endings to writing a DBQ essay.
