Hermosa School Yearly Recap
Hornet Families,
As we wrap up another fantastic school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible experiences and accomplishments that made this year so special. It truly flew by, and we are so proud of our students for their hard work, growth, and spirit throughout the year.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our 8th Grade Graduation and the School Family BBQ. These events reminded us of the strong sense of community we share here at Hermosa School. A special thanks to Travis Hartshorn for manning the grill and cooking up delicious hot dogs, and to our dedicated staff who worked hard to serve lunch and keep everything running smoothly.
As summer begins, we encourage all parents and guardians to help their students stay engaged by reading regularly. Even just a few minutes a day can help keep young minds sharp and ready for the next school year.
Most importantly, we hope you take this time to enjoy your kids—explore, laugh, relax, and make memories together. Whether it’s a quiet hike, a picnic, or a simple walk through the beauty of our own Black Hills, summer is a perfect opportunity to create meaningful family moments.
Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. We wish all of you a safe, restful, and joyful summer!

Counselor Corner with Mrs. Graveman
The day has come, the conclusion of our 2024-2025 school year is here!
The last two months of school fly by with State Testing, school activities, field trips, and track meets. I always try to savor the last bit, celebrate the growth of our students, and think about how far they have come this year. In our hallway, there's a picture of everyone's school picture, and boy, have our students grown, in more ways than one! Mr. Paris held a fun assembly on Wednesday. The school was able to recognize students who have grown athletically, celebrating our Spring sports and Theater participants. Students were also recognized academically with perfect attendance, meeting their iReady goals, going up a level on the State Test, and Middle School students with a 3.5 or above grade point average. We have amazing students here, and being a part of their journey brings me so much joy.
The to-do list on how to improve as Hermosa's School Counselor is always growing, and I look forward to a summer planning for the future and thinking about the best ways I can support students academically, socially, and emotionally in the classroom, and for some in a small group setting or individually. I will be excited to see August come and get back to school!
Enjoy the summer, get outside, and make memories that I can't wait to hear about from the students when they return.
