Principal's Message
Dear Maple Glen Families,
Dear Maple Glen Families,
We have BIG NEWS to share! On Wednesday, it was announced that Maple Glen Elementary School has been honored as an Internationally Recognized PLC Model School! This recognition has left us filled with excitement and pride.
What exactly does this mean? Solution Tree is a leading provider in professional learning for educators. Westfield Washington Schools has partnered with Solution Tree the last six years as we began to implement Professional Learning Communities (PLC) in each of our nine schools. PLC focuses on three ideas: a commitment to ensuring all students learn, a culture of collaboration, and a results-orientated approach. Teachers all across Westfield meet on Wednesdays as a professional learning community to collaborate with one focus in mind - your children and their learning.
Mrs. Fischer and Mrs. Baud have worked diligently over the last five years with teachers to create a true student centered PLC process. Last spring, Mrs. Fischer submitted the paperwork outlining the hard work and dedication shown by Maple Glen teachers. And this week, she came back to the share the news!
We are so proud of our teachers and their commitment to working together to ensure every child at Maple Glen learns at high levels. This recognition belongs to our entire school community—students, staff, and families—who make Maple Glen such a special place. A place that I am so honored to call home!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather,
Tiffany Buzan
171st & Ditch - Construction Update
The construction of the new round-a-bout at 171st and Ditch is in full swing. While the city is hoping this addition will help with the flow of traffic on Ditch, things are going to get a little worse before they get better.
171 Street will be CLOSED at Ditch Road and MGES will NOT be accessible from
Ditch Road. Drop off/pick up will not change at the school.
The closure of 171st St will start on either the afternoon of Sept 10 or Sept 11 and will likely remain for at least 45 days. The closure will not happen until Springmill and 161st Street has opened. A visual is attached below.
We ask for your patience and flexibility as the city works hard to get this project finished, and we all go back to our normal flow of traffic!
News from the PTO
Thank you, Maple Glen families, for your support as we head into our biggest fundraiser of the year - the ROCK-A-THON!
WHAT IS ROCK-A-THON?? The ROCK-A-THON is Ample Glen's biggest fundraiser of the year! Students are encouraged to create a fundraising link to share with friends and family. Then on September 19th, the school celebrates with a dunk, games, and fun activities!

Talking Points
Westfield Washington Schools usesTalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
