Hello Mustang Families!

It was a busy and exciting week at Madison, with students engaged in hands-on learning in science, AVID students visiting San Diego State, and our Mustang Band representing our school at multiple performances. As we head into this week, we’re looking forward to our first ever Stellar Night, where Mr. Pezzoli will give a brief talk about astronomy, and then give us a tour of the night sky with the aid of multiple telescopes! This is a great event for the family!

Also on Monday, just a few minutes before Stellar Night, the Madison PTA will hold an association meeting open to all parents. During the 15 minute meeting they'll discuss leadership positions for the next school year. If you would like to be more involve, please join us.

Another important event taking place this Tuesday 3/24 is our 8th grade family night in the library where our 8th grade counselor Ms. Kathy will provide important information about the transition to high school, 9th grade course selection, the VUSD My Plan, A-G college requirements, and more. You'll also have the opportunity to meet the RBV administration and counselors. If you can't attend in person, we will be sending out a Zoom link to all 8th grade families through Parent Square the morning of 3/24.

Lastly, this is Wish Spirit Week in support of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. See the flyer below for more information about the all-middle school dance. And remember that this is the last week of school before Spring break. There will be no school from March 30 to April 3, and we'll return to school on April 6 with our regular 10am Monday start time.

Thank you for reading! Have a great week!

Sixth Grade Science

Last week in Mr. Schmit’s 6th grade science classes, students explored thermal energy through a hands-on lab. They began by forming hypotheses about how quickly water molecules move in hot versus cold water. Students then added food coloring to each to observe how it behaved at different temperatures. This activity helped bring their learning to life as they connected their observations to the concept of molecular motion.

AVID Fieldtrip to San Diego State University

AVID students visited San Diego State University last week. They attended a women’s water polo game, where the Aztecs dominated the Tigers (Princeton)! After the game, they walked to one of the dining halls, where students enjoyed an all-you-can-eat lunch. After lunch, students explored the campus, including the SDSU Bookstore, the Student Union (which even has a bowling alley), and Love Library. It was a warm day, but the students had a blast!

Order Your Yearbook Today!

Students have been busy putting together the Madison Yearbook and working hard to meet the print deadline! Yearbook class gives middle school students a chance to build real-world skills in a fun, hands-on way. Students learn photography, writing, editing, and design while also developing teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills as they work to meet real deadlines. They get experience using tools and technology similar to what professionals use and learn how to communicate with peers, staff, and the school community. Along the way, they take pride in creating something meaningful that captures the story of their school year, AND it’s the only class where people buy their homework!
