In order to increase safety measures, all elementary schools will begin sending out an automated message when students are marked absent from school. This message will be sent at approximately 11:00 AM each school day. We still ask that you call your child out before 8:50 AM when you know that he/she will be absent. Please be aware that you may still receive an automated phone call even though you have reported the absence. In addition, please be certain that your HAC phone number and email address (not a student email) are up-to-date. This automated attendance messaging will begin on Monday, February 26th.

Students in our Kindergarten classes celebrated the 100th day of school. Everyone dressed as 100 year old people to commemorate this memorable day and participated in activities related to the number 100. Ms. Supowitz, Mrs. Kurley, Mrs. McMahon and Mrs. McHugh all dressed for the occasion.

Sometimes you are faced with the difficult decision of whether or not your child is well enough to attend school. Your child should be kept home if they have any of the following symptoms until they have been resolved or been medically treated:

1. Temperature of 100 degrees or higher-After illness, temperature should be normal for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicine before returning to school.

2. Vomiting or diarrhea

3. Thick mucus or green nasal discharge

4. Red, itchy eyes with drainage

5. Suspect head lice. The student may return to school after being treated with shampoo, such as Nix.

Please notify the nurse’s office (215-809-6383) of any health incident, such as strep throat, conjunctivitis, broken bones, or surgery. Also, please notify us of any medications that your child is taking.

The Service Learning Club is in the process of making poster boards on how to recycle in the cafeteria. They have also created a video to help the students at Schweitzer learn more about recycling in our cafeteria. We will be sharing the video at School Meeting. In the meantime, please remind your children that all milk cartons can be recycled in the blue containers.
