A Note from the Principal

Community partnerships. We couldn't live out our Mission without all the community support and parent volunteers, and this year we are already feeling the love with an unprecedented number of parents and caregivers in the building, supporting instruction, providing enrichment opportunities and having fun with kids at Lunch and Play. Also, this week, the Homer Elks Lodge #2127 presented our school with $3,500 to support our 4th grade overnight field trip across Kachemak Bay where they learn about our local environment.

October is an exciting time as it brings soccer and cross country running competitions and the end of first quarter! Don't miss the End of Quarter Celebration Assembly and Orca Fun Run October 9th. Enjoy our 6th grade performance at the Assembly in the gym at 2:00pm and stay to watch the Orca Fun Run at 3:00pm.

We are looking forward to sharing student progress at this month’s Parent Teacher Conferences on October 24th and 25th. Teachers will be reaching out to you soon to schedule a time. When you are here, please take a moment to stop by and share your feedback with me on how the school year is going!

The local Elks lodge has been a consistent supporter of our West Homer Educational Community! Thank you for your most recent donation of $3,500 to support our 4th grade field trip across Kackemak Bay!

Battle of the Books

The battle of the books lists are out, and there are some fantastic titles kids will be reading this year including this title.

Our new Custodian - Mr. McKinley

We are celebrating Mr. Mike this month for stepping in as our new head custodian. He keeps this building clean and safe and has a lot of fun with kids doing it! Here he is with the cafeteria cleanup crew!
