Kimberly High School April 2026
Family Newsletter
April 2026
From the Principal
Hello Kimberly High School families,
The weeks ahead will be filled with performances, competitions, athletic events, and celebrations that showcase the many talents and dedication of our students. This time of year brings many moments we might consider “mountaintops”, opportunities to recognize achievement, celebrate success, and applaud how far our students have come. These moments are important, and they deserve to be celebrated.
However, growth rarely happens on the mountaintop. Growth happens in the steady, often unseen steps in between-in the daily effort, the perseverance through challenges, the encouragement from teachers, families, and peers, and the commitment to keep moving forward even when progress feels small. It is in the ordinary days where confidence is built, skills are strengthened, and resilience develops.
With just two months remaining, our focus is on finishing the year with purpose. I am continually inspired by the commitment of our staff and the growth we see in our students each day. The success we experience at Kimberly is not defined only by the moments of recognition, but by the daily work, care, and support that happen in classrooms, hallways, activities, and conversations. The strength of our school community is found in showing up for one another, staying focused on growth, and valuing the process just as much as the outcome.
As we move through this busy season, I encourage all of us to pause and appreciate the moments that might otherwise feel routine. When we take time to notice the small steps forward, the quiet persistence, and the everyday acts of kindness and effort, we are reminded that the journey itself holds tremendous value. While we are grateful for the mountaintop moments we experience at Kimberly, it is the walking in between — the steady commitment to learning, growing, and supporting one another — that makes this community truly special.
Thank you for the important role you play in making Kimberly such a special place. I hope April brings many meaningful steps forward, moments of pride, and appreciation for the journey we are on together.
With great Papermaker Pride,
Mrs. DePeau
Principal
At the Kimberly Area School District, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Through proactive measures, staff and student training, and strong partnerships with families and the community, we work together to ensure that safety is our collective responsibility.
Kids and Online Safety Online safety is an important part of keeping kids safe at every age. Parents can help by setting clear expectations for screen time, knowing which apps and games their child uses, and keeping devices in shared spaces when possible. Regularly talking with your child about safe and respectful online behavior—and reminding them never to share personal information—goes a long way in building lifelong digital habits. Together we can make a difference.

Let’s Keep This Season Worth Celebrating
As graduation and prom season approach, we all want our kids to have the time of their lives. But "hosting" a party with alcohol isn't a favor to them—it's a risk to everyone.
We are proud to support the "Parents Who Host, Lose The Most" campaign, a national movement dedicated to keeping our youth safe and healthy. We invite every family in our district to take a stand against underage drinking.

Seniors can submit a photo for one or both kinds of pages. Submission is completely voluntary and space is limited. We hope to cover as many students as possible. Yearbook is collecting photos of seniors as babies and toddlers (ages 0-3) AND/OR photos of seniors on a first day of school (4K to grade 2). KHS Testing Dates
April 2026
Dear Parents,
Wisconsin students in tenth grade will be participating in the Forward Exam this spring. Our students are scheduled to take the test on April 7th within our regularly scheduled Flex time. At the high school level, the Forward Exam assesses students exclusively in social studies, and it is an online assessment that takes approximately 45 minutes.
Attached is an Informational Brochure for Families which contains additional information about the assessment including the purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.
Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a makeup test prior to the close of the testing window. Please make an effort to avoid scheduling appointments for your student during this time.
As is true for all state assessments, the results of these tests help us make decisions on how we can continue to offer strong educational programming for our students.
Please reach out with any questions you may have..
Sincerely,
Kaaren Weyers

Student Drop Off and Pick Up
When dropping students off at the start of the day in the font of the school or picking them up in the front of the school at the end of the day please remember the following:
Please don’t utilize the left lane to pick up or drop off students. This will help with backups within the parking lot and create a safer environment.
Please be patient as a large number of new drivers with limited driving experience are entering and leaving the parking lot.
A reminder from the Outagamie County Sheriff's office - Do not pick up/drop off your children on the residential streets of Combined Locks before of after school.

Assessments/Exams
The PSAT will be offered to the Class of 2028 - at KHS on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The PSAT may be a good choice if a student is planning on going to any out-of-state colleges and/or plans on taking the SAT. Students who are in the top 25% of their class are also encouraged to take the PSAT to compete for the Merit Scholarships. Some local scholarship programs also require a PSAT on the application and certain parents' places of employment require it for scholarships. Cost is $20.00. Fee waivers are available for the PSAT if needed. To register, students should mail payment in the form of a check (made payable to KHS) to Kimberly High School Student Services, 1662 East Kennedy Avenue, Kimberly WI 54136, by Friday, May 15, or students can drop a check off in the main office.
Testing Accommodations for the PSAT ~ If your student requires testing accommodations, please contact Carrie Raminger at craminger@kimberly.k12.wi.us
Note: Test materials will be ordered in advance so registering by Friday, May 15th, 2026, will guarantee your student a testing spot.
UW Placement Testing
Most University of Wisconsin System campuses require placement tests, typically taken in the spring before freshman year through the Regional Testing Program. Registration begins in mid-March, with testing dates offered throughout spring and summer. Students who miss this must arrange testing with their campus. Refer to your admissions letter or contact the campus for required tests. Click here for additional information on placement testing.
Senior Recognition
Senior Awards Night
Senior Awards Night will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the KHS Auditorium. This event recognizes students who have received a local scholarship and will be presented by the gifting organization. Students who have a presenter for their award or scholarship will receive an invitation letter to attend, which will be sent two weeks prior to May 27th.
We understand there are other scholarships/awards that may not be presented in person. If your student has received a scholarship from a college or university or other outside scholarship committees, let us know by Friday, April 24th. These scholarships are not able to be recognized at Senior Awards Night due to time constraints, but will be included in the graduation program.
Triumph Program
The Triumph Program is a short-term (typically 9-12 weeks) mental health intervention for students in grades 9-12 from Kimberly, Kaukauna, and Little Chute High Schools. The Triumph program provides a balanced approach to address student mental health needs while supporting their academic progress. With a small academic class size, individualized therapy, daily group sessions, and focused academic support students are able to be fully supported and succeed. Students attend Triumph for a half day programming (Blocks 1 & 2 or Blocks 3 & 4) and Kimberly High School for the other half of their day. Triumph programming is offered free of charge for qualifying students in these districts. The Triumph program was established in January of 2017 and has served over 400 students. If you believe your student would benefit from the Triumph program, please reach out to your child's school counselor for more information.
