Hello and Welcome Back from Principal Charette!

Greetings Students, Families, and Staff,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are having a wonderful and rejuvenating summer break. As your principal, I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you back to Westport Middle High School for the 2026-2027 school year. I can hardly contain my excitement for what awaits us!

Whether you’re spending your summer relaxing at the beach, exploring new places, catching up on reading, or simply enjoying quality time with loved ones, I trust you'll return refreshed and ready to dive into another year of growth and discovery.

As we prepare to open our doors once again, I want to share with you the vision that will guide us throughout this school year: Student Engagement and Student-Led Learning. This focus represents a fundamental shift in how we approach education at Westport. We believe that when students take ownership of their learning—when they ask the questions, pursue their passions, and lead their own educational journeys—extraordinary things happen.

This year, we're committed to creating an environment where:

  • Student Voice Matters: Your ideas, questions, and perspectives will shape our classroom experiences and school initiatives.
  • Active Learning Thrives: Rather than passive recipients of information, you'll be investigators, creators, and problem-solvers engaged in meaningful work.
  • Leadership Opportunities Abound: Whether through student-led projects, peer teaching, or collaborative decision-making, you'll have countless chances to lead and inspire one another.
  • Community Strengthens: Through student-driven clubs, events, and initiatives, we'll build a school culture where everyone feels valued and invested.

I want to emphasize that each of you—students, families, and staff—is essential to our success. Together, we'll create a vibrant, inclusive community where engagement flourishes and every learner thrives.

As we begin this exciting chapter, I encourage you to embrace curiosity, support one another, and step boldly into leadership. The possibilities before us are limitless.

I cannot wait to see the incredible things you'll accomplish this year. Let's make 2026-2027 a year to remember!

Go Wildcats!

Warmest regards,

Laura Charette

WELCOME! Adam Wingo - Career Pathways Coordinator

Location: 400 Old County Road, Westport, MA, USA

Hello Westport community! My name is Adam Wingo, and I am delighted to connect with you as your Career Pathways Coordinator.

I am thrilled to continue this new chapter of my educational career. I bring 21 years of experience in education to this role, with a deep background in vocational teaching and helping students develop practical, real-world skills. I am very excited to utilize my experience in expanding and running Career Pathways here in Westport to help students bridge the gap between school and meaningful, long-term career opportunities.

When I am not working on school programs, my life revolves around my family and our shared love for adventure. We enjoy spending time camping. In fact, this past summer, we took the ultimate American road trip! We spent the most of the summer traveling cross-country, exploring National Parks, and driving historic Route 66. When we're not camping, we enjoy working on and taking family drives in our antique 1939 Buick.

I look forward to collaborating with Westport families, students, and local businesses!

Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Student drop off begins at 6:45 AM each morning. Student drop-off and pick-up will occur at the east entrance of the school building. Parents should use the west entrance near Westport Elementary School, drive behind the WMHS building to the east side, and exit at the east entrance near the Westport Library. Students will exit their vehicles at the east entrance near the front of the school building. We kindly ask that students are ready to exit their vehicle during morning drop-off as this helps to alleviate backup. At the end of the school day, students who are picked up will meet their respective vehicles at the east side of the building.

Bus riders will be dropped off and picked up at the Main entrance of WMHS. Van riders will be dropped off and picked up at the Auditorium/Gymnasium entrance.
