🍎 Principal News 🍎
Malvern Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a peaceful and restful winter break and are feeling refreshed and ready to begin the new year with us.
Students have one more day of break, as Monday, January 5th, will be a half day for optional family conferences and a half day staff workday. We look forward to welcoming all of our scholars back to campus bright and early on Tuesday, January 6th. Quarter 2 report cards will be sent home on Thursday.
Malvern is one school made up of many cultures, and we are excited to celebrate our unique strengths that make us one at our annual Multicultural Fair on January 22nd. Celebrations are an important part of learning, and this event gives our students the opportunity to learn from one another about traditions, customs, and celebrations from around the world. We appreciate your support in making this event a meaningful and memorable experience. Information on how to participate was shared prior to winter break. We welcome you to reach out if you have questions or would still like to be involved.
Our faculty is excited to welcome our scholars back to begin 2026 learning, growing, and moving forward with purpose!

Severe Weather Preparedness
It’s that time of year! ❄️ Please take a moment to review MISD’s inclement weather procedures so you know exactly where to find updates when winter weather rolls in. Staying informed keeps everyone safe and prepared!
Student Well-Being
At Malvern, student well-being is a top priority. Throughout the year, our counselor provides age-appropriate lessons that help students recognize “big” feelings, identify trusted adults, and practice coping strategies. Each elementary campus also displays the required “You Are Not Alone” poster so students know support is always available.
Our approach to suicide prevention focuses on helping students:
- Manage their emotions
- Understand that tough moments are temporary
- Notice when someone may need help
- Know who they can trust
- Use healthy coping skills
- Find support when they need it
Thank you for partnering with us to support the emotional health of every Red Hawk. Please review MISD’s Suicide Prevention Parent and Guardian Newsletter by selecting the button below.
Visitors and Volunteers
MISD requires every visitor/volunteer to report to the office to sign in and receive a visitor badge. At the camera outside of the school, please state your name, show your ID, and explain why you are here at school.
A software system called “Hallpass School Visitor Management” is used to scan in visitors. A valid, unexpired state or government issued photo ID must be presented each time you visit, volunteer, or pick up a student. If you arrive on campus without your driver’s license, you will be asked to leave and return to campus when you have identification. A photocopy or photo on your telephone of your ID will not be accepted.
MISD requires that volunteers complete a criminal background check every school year. If you plan to volunteer anywhere in the building or chaperone a field trip, please complete the required volunteer application.
MISD will not offer a grace period this school year for you to complete your annual background check. All background checks must be completed and approved before you can serve on campus.
Hawk Squad Call to Action
Hawk Squad is a fun, high-energy volunteer program where we welcome students each morning with high fives, compliments, positivity, and enthusiasm as they head into class! Getting started is simple—just complete the standard MISD volunteer background check and fill out the form linked here. (Please note: by completing this form you are giving your personal information to a Malvern parent.)
In addition to morning greetings, we also help out at various school events throughout the year. Our goal is to grow Hawk Squad into a strong and lasting tradition—and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
Active members will have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive, custom Hawk Squad t-shirt to wear and keep.
We welcome everyone—dads, moms, grandparents, and more! If you're ready to have fun and make a difference, sign up and join the squad. We can’t wait to meet you!
