AVID Angel Update

• 6th grade is continuing to work on Costa’s level of questioning. See if your child can complete this statement: “The quality of the question determines the quality of _________________________.... “ They should say “THINKING”. We will begin using those question stems in our Socratic Seminars shortly. We are jumping into our next adventure.....AMERICAN INTERVIEW instead of American Idol. Students will be learning best practices and skills to use during the interview process. It should be a fun, healthy competition with the final contestants earning a big reward! In addition to all this fun, sixth graders will be beginning our “Introduction to Career” Unit.
• 7th grade is reviewing Costa’s and beginning our “American Interview” competition, too! 7th grade is also jumping into the tutorial process head-on and will be completing their first mock tutorial this week.
• 8th grade is not only reviewing Costa’s, but they just completed their first mock tutorial last week. This week, they are entering the “American Interview” competition in addition to tutorials, and jumping into a Career Exploration Study, which will culminate in a student-led Career Fair for our students and maybe even parents if there is enough interest. This is different from our Make a Plan Event planned for this Friday. We are looking forward to this event, which will be open to all 8th MXMS students, along with the teamwork of select WJHS students and staff. It is going to be a busy few weeks!

✅8th grade... Final Payments are due now. Thanks. April 16 and 17... also, all games for the 16th have been moved to another date.
