Counselors' Corner Counselors' Corner

AP & IB Exam Registration is now open until October 27, 2025.

Details can be found on the WLW Counseling Website under AP & IB Testing:

AP TESTS: It is important that students complete BOTH steps: 1. Sign up in College Board and select "yes" or "no" for taking the exam and 2. Pay on Total Registration.

College Visits for Juniors & Seniors
College visits have started! October is College Application Month, so students are encouraged to sign up to meet with representatives from schools they're interested in. Visits happen during the school day, and students must sign up ahead in the counseling office.

Senior Counselor Connect Luncheons
Seniors are invited to join Counselor Connect Luncheons every Tuesday and Thursday during all 3 lunches. This is a great time to talk with counselors about post-graduation plans, including college apps, apprenticeships, FAFSA, and more. Bring your Chromebook and questions to the Career Center in the counseling office.

October is College Month, which means many Michigan Universities have waived their application fees and many colleges have NO FEES. If you are considering attending, now is a good time to apply!

SENIORS: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened on October 1. Every family should complete the FAFSA, regardless of income, to be eligible for grants, scholarships, and financial aid

ALL GRADES: Explore In-Demand Careers at MiCareerQuest – November 18
Students have the exciting opportunity to attend MiCareerQuest at the Suburban Collection Showplace on November 18 for free from 7:30-10:30 am. This hands-on, interactive career exploration event allows students to engage directly with professionals across high-demand industries. It’s a fun and informative way for students to explore potential career paths.
To register, please contact Janeen Bryant at JaneenBryant@wlcsd.org.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need support with any of the above.

This year marks an exciting milestone for Walled Lake Western! The Class of 2026 will be the first ever to graduate wearing our brand-new, custom cap and gown design.

The updated look features a royal blue gown with a bold silver sleeve stripe, showcasing Warrior pride in a fresh and timeless way. Each senior will also receive a Western graduation medal with their cap & gown. This is another new addition that makes this year’s ceremony extra special.

Because this is a completely new custom design, gowns from past years cannot be reused. All seniors must order the new cap and gown to participate in commencement.

The Class of 2026 will truly be one to remember!
