Morning Worship and Devotion
Daily Scripture Focus
Each morning we start the day with a time of singing and a word from scripture. Morning devotion time is a time for focus, learning, and putting God first in what we do each day.
The morning devotion is led by Mr. Yearwood most days, but there are also weekly opportunities for students and faculty members to lead.
Some of the scriptures used this week were:
- John 14:6
- Proverbs 1:1-7
- Proverbs 1:8-19
- Proverbs 2:6-11
A Look Back at Last Week
Cupcakes and Coffee
PTF parents provided a special day of treats for upper school students at the Depot campus on Monday. A table packed full of sweet treats and a visit from the Farmhouse Coffee truck made for a great Bake Sale. Thank you to all the parents who worked to make this event possible for our 7th-12th grade Lions!
Pumpkin Parade
Lower school students enjoyed creating characters from their favorite books with pumpkins. The Pumpkin Parade was filled with lots of creativity! Congratulations to the category winners!
50th Day of School
Students in the lower school took note of our 50th day of school this week. Miss Yearwood's class enjoyed celebrating by learning more about all the combinations of coins that make 50 cents and by making Coke Floats.
Career Exploration
Mrs. Griffin's 8th grade Career Prep class showed off their research work this week by presenting to their peers about careers they have been exploring. This activity is a great way for students to gain understanding about job availability, required training, and potential salary.
PSAT/NMSQT
10th and 11th grade students participated in the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) this week. While sophomores used this opportunity for practice and insight into the SAT, juniors will be entered into the scholarship contest with their results.
Pumpkin Patch Experience
Thanks to Mr. Lawrence's generous pumpkin donation, our preschoolers launched their pumpkin study with a hands-on pumpkin patch experience and a fun decorating activity! Following their time in the patch, students explored concepts of measurement by comparing sizes and weighting their pumpkins.
Career Tech Event
On Thursday, 8th grade students attended the Tools of the Trade Career Showcase at Wallace State Community College where they were able to learn more about available career technical programs and potential careers. From robotics, to health sciences, to multi-media event planning, students enjoyed participating in this hands-on event.
Peer Presentations
Mrs. Freeman's 2nd graders presented to their peers about books they have read. Speaking in front of others is challenging, but an excellent exercise that will help students grow and develop as future leaders.
Chess Club
The 6th grade students have been interested in starting a chess club. This week Mrs. Borden made it happen for interested upper elementary students. Students enjoyed learning more about this classic game of strategy.
Guest Readers
Friday morning some of our elementary classes had special visitors from Wallace State. English students from the college spent time reading with our preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students.
Event Information
Parents, family members, and friends are always welcome on Tuesday mornings for a dedicated weekly prayer time. This meeting takes place in the lunch area at the Beech Campus immediately following morning devotion on Tuesdays.
