Grandview Elementary
Parent/ Family Update - August 1, 2025

October 17, 2025
From the Principal:
Dear Grandview Families,
Fall is in the air at Grandview! Students are buzzing with excitement as Halloween approaches, and our classrooms are filled with creativity, learning, and TigerPRIDE. Thank you to all the families who joined us for the Book Fair and Family Night—it was wonderful to see so many of you together celebrating literacy. We’re proud of the strong sense of community and teamwork that continues to grow each week.
This month, our TigerPRIDE focus is Respect. Teachers are watching for students who consistently show respect through their words, actions, and attitudes. Those students will be recognized at the October Board of Education meeting for modeling this important value.
As we move deeper into the semester, let’s keep focusing on steady attendance, positive habits, and encouraging our students to do their best every day. Together, we’re building something special at GES!
With Tiger pride,
Dr. Susan Short
Principal, Grandview Elementary
Bundle Up—Cooler Weather is Here!
As the temperatures start to drop, please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Students go outside for recess whenever possible, so jackets, hats, and layers are encouraged to help keep everyone warm and comfortable throughout the day.
Book Fair & Family Night: A Page-Turning Success!
The Book Fair and Family Night were both a wonderful success, with more than 75 families visiting to shop and celebrate reading together. As of today, sales have surpassed $3,500—and a portion of the profits will be used to purchase new library books and STEM supplies that will benefit every Grandview student.
A special thank-you goes to the Bellevue Education Foundation (BEF) for their generous support in purchasing books and journals for students who didn’t get to shop. Thanks to BEF, every child in grades K–5 took home something from the Book Fair and shared in the excitement!
Students also enjoyed several fun activities, including a guessing-jar contest, where the closest estimate won the jar’s contents. Twenty-four students won a free poster, and three lucky Family Night participants took home a collection of books in our special giveaway drawing.
It was truly a week full of books, families, and fun—thank you for helping make it such a memorable event!

Counselor's Corner:
Dear Grandview Families,
October’s Character Trait Focus: Responsibility
This month we are focusing on Responsibility, which we define as: taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. You can learn more about this month’s focus by checking out the latest Character Strong newsletter.
Family Resource
The Purposeful People library is a wonderful tool that organizes book lists by character trait. Consider checking some titles out from your local library or searching YouTube for read-aloud versions. Reading or listening to books together is a great way to start meaningful discussions about responsibility and other important values.
Please remember, I’m here to help support our Tigers. If you have concerns about your child, don’t hesitate to reach out.
