Beard's Bulletin: Beard's Bulletin:

I know we are in the middle of watching out for snow here in January and February, but just around the corner is our busy Spring season. Students are working hard on all the curriculum pieces at TCE with high expectations for student achievement. Last school year TCE had the highest College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) in the district. We were also the only elementary school in Catoosa County that was identified for both being a literacy leader and a math leader school in the state of Georgia!

We are looking forward to a new generation of students. Come Spring we will register future Tigers for Kindergarten so please contact the central office if you have students that are of age to start Kindergarten next school year. Your child may enroll in Kindergarten if they are 5 years old on or before September 1 of the school year.

We are on the mad dash to the finish of another great year at Tiger Creek!

With February recognized by many as Kindness Month, I often remind our students that being kind costs absolutely nothing. I encourage you to talk with your child about how they can show compassion to those around them. This month, let’s challenge them to perform a "Random Act of Kindness." Whether it’s a simple thank you to our teachers, custodians, or cafeteria staff, or even a handmade card, these small gestures can change the course of someone's day—or even their life. Let’s empower our children to be the change-makers our world needs!

February Character Trait: RESPECT

The Character Word for February is RESPECT. Don't be surprised if you hear more phrases like, "Excuse me," "Yes, please," or "Thank you" around your house this month as we talk about ways to show respect for others, and how respect ties into Kindness Month. Discuss ways to show respect for others with your child.

Kindness Month 2026

February is Kindness Month, and Tiger Creek focuses on ways to help others through our actions. At home, children can help family or others by doing the dishes, taking out the trash, folding laundry, or lending a hand. Children extend that kindness through our words, by saying "Please" and "Thank you." The school-wide counseling lessons on January 27th focused on how we can show kindness through respectful and helpful behaviors.

Secret Kindness Agents 2026

TCE celebrates kindness during the week of Valentine's Day, February 9-13. Look for a Secret Kindness Agents flyer in your child's folder featuring daily kindness suggestions for this special week. These acts focus on silent acts of meaningful kindness where there may not be any praise given for the action.

To help our students build confidence and fluency in math, I encourage you to set aside a few minutes each evening to practice math facts with your child. Regular practice makes a big difference. Flashcards, apps, or even quick verbal quizzes during everyday activities like car rides or meal prep can be fun and effective ways to reinforce these skills.

What skills to focus on:

Kindergarten: addition facts to 10

1st Grade: addition and subtraction facts to 10

Second Grade: addition and subtraction facts to 20

Third Grade: Multiplication facts to 10

Fourth Grade: Multiplication and division facts to 10

Fifth Grade: Multiplication and division facts to 10

If you need help locating math fact resources please feel free to contact me at: jbishop.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us

Thank you for your support in helping your child succeed in math!

Winter Safety Tips

Hello Students, Parents, and Staff.

As we get back in the swing of things here @ The Creek after some inclement weather, let us focus on Winter Safety Tips. As we continue through the next few months of winter, let us keep these safety tips in mind:

Dress Warmly: If you are working or out in the frigid temperatures, please ensure you’re dressed appropriately . Layered clothing, insulated and waterproof boots are advised. However, Coats, gloves, and scarves are recommended as well. Frostbite can develop rapidly, causing skin tissue to become frozen and possibly resulting in permanent damage if not treated promptly.

Winter Emergency kit: Keep A basic First Aid kit in the vehicle, as well as items such as flashlights, blankets, non perishable foods, water, and a set of jumper cables.

Drive Safely: Staff and parents please keep in mind to slow down. Please allow 2 car lengths of space in between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you to allow sudden stops. Inspect your vehicle’s tires for winter readiness.

Although winter weather can bring peculiar obstacles, with preparation and precautions set in place we can stay ahead of the game and stay safe. Thank you for your continued support @ The Creek!

Flu cases our still very strong in our area and in the school.

The flu this year does seem to be hitting children hard. Many are having high fevers for 5 plus days.

During these days most children do not really have an appetite and that is okay as long as they are getting fluids. Water & ice chips are good, but they also need fluids that have electrolytes and sugar so make sure they are having things like regular Powerade/Gatorade (not zero Powerade/Gatorade), and popsicles.

If you child is having a high fever that you are having a hard time getting to come down, or having breathing issues please take them in (Clinic/ER) to be seen. There is always a chance of complications with the flu.

Day 1 we had 21 heart blossoms, today is Day 6 and we have heart blossoms! We are in bloom! If you haven't done yours, get them in soon so they can join the others.

On January 30th, we now have 186 Kindness Heart Blossoms on our Kindness Tree! Please fell free to stop and read some of them if you visit the school! If you haven't sent yours in yet, please do so as soon as possible.
