Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
No School for Students Monday, March 16
Please remember that students will not have school on Monday, March 16. It is a professional development day for staff. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 17.
Leadership Day March 17
March 17 is an exciting day for our school as we celebrate our Leader in Me Lighthouse Certification Day. This special day highlights the leadership, growth, and positive habits our scholars demonstrate every day. As we prepare for this important milestone, we are asking all students to return to wearing their school uniforms daily. Looking our best helps us represent our school community with pride as we showcase our leadership culture.
Dear College Park Elementary Families,
This is a friendly reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday, March 16.
On Tuesday, March 17, our school will host a special Leadership Day as we welcome our Leader in Me Lighthouse reviewers to campus. Our visitors will be learning about the leadership culture at College Park Elementary and observing how our students demonstrate the belief that everyone can be a leader.
Our PreK–5th grade students will have the opportunity to proudly show their leadership talents and share how they practice leadership in their daily learning.
Students may:
-
Share their Leadership Binders
-
Talk with reviewers about their goals and learning
-
Demonstrate how they lead themselves, lead others, and lead their learning
Show off their leadership classroom
How families can support:
-
Please make sure your child wears their school uniform on Tuesday, March 17.
-
Ensure students arrive at school on time so they are ready to participate in the day’s activities.
-
Take a moment to encourage and cheer on your child, reminding them to proudly share their leadership.
We are excited for our students to showcase the leadership skills they practice every day. Thank you for partnering with us and helping us celebrate our students.
With appreciation,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

C.I.S Barbershop Talk
On Monday, our Barbershop Talk was about much more than haircuts. It was about mentorship, connection, and meaningful conversation. Our scholars had the opportunity to sit with positive male role models from our school community and engage in discussions about leadership, responsibility, and making great choices each day. The space allowed students to share their thoughts, ask questions, and receive encouragement from men who are committed to supporting their growth and success. A special thank you to Communities In Schools and Dr. Travis Barber for partnering with us to make this experience possible. Opportunities like this remind our scholars that their voices matter and that strong leaders uplift and support one another.
