Breaking Ground at GHS
Next fall GHS will begin offering a construction class in which students will learn essential construction methods, explore construction drawings, specifications, and layout as they build foundational knowledge of floor and wall framing systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, roofing materials, siding, and more. Students will also earn credit through the Montana University System and be prepared to continue in the Carpentry program at Gallatin College.
Construction began last week to create the outdoor learning space that will be used for this course. Thanks to Williams Civil and RDO (John Deere) for the time and support that allowed several GHS students to participate in the groundbreaking. Last week students went through a safety briefing, heavy equipment simulator practice, an introduction to the scope of work, and introduction to the excavator. Then, they started digging! Check out their work on the northeast corner of campus.
