Hunter's Green Elementary
Making Magic: Owning the Outcomes
May 8, 2026
Hunter’s Green Families,
This is Mrs. Libby with your weekly update for Friday, May 8, 2026.
This past week, students in grades 3–5 completed their end-of-year assessments in ELA and Math, and WOW! We are so proud of the growth our students have made this school year. This coming week, we will wrap up end-of-year testing with our 5th graders taking the FAST Science assessment and our 3rd and 4th graders taking their district end-of-year science assessment.
A quick reminder that Monday, May 11, is an early release day, and students will be dismissed at 12:55 p.m.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Music and Art Showcase on Thursday. This is always such a special event, where each Panther has their personal artwork framed and displayed for all to see. If you pre-purchased artwork and were not able to pick it up on Thursday, please stop by the front office to obtain it. If you would still like to purchase your child’s framed artwork, you may do so using the link below, and it will be sent to you.

We are also excited to share that the Hunter’s Green Songwriting Project has been completed! This project was created in collaboration with our art program to bring students’ final art projects to life. Students began with the same ocean theme and developed big ideas that were then turned into song choruses. Over the course of two weeks, students used traditional brainstorming and songwriting techniques to create a class song, which was then brought to life and produced with the support of songwriting technology.
Students made creative decisions together, including the style, tempo, type of voice, mood, and song title. This project was a wonderful lesson in creativity, collaboration, respecting one another’s ideas, and using AI appropriately to enhance our work, not write it for us. Be sure to ask your child about their individual verse contributions to their class song!

It is not too late to purchase tickets for Kids Rule the School! Families can purchase tickets online for a chance for their child to be a teacher or administrator for the day. The more tickets purchased, the greater the chance of winning. Ticket sales end this evening, May 8, at 11:59 p.m., and winners will be drawn electronically on May 9. Be sure to visit the website to purchase tickets.
As always, thank you for supporting Hunter’s Green Elementary. If there is anything I can do to assist, please do not hesitate to call.

Half-Penny Sales Tax Improvements
In 2018, voters approved a half-penny sales tax to support improvements in Hillsborough County schools. Since then, more than $1.2 billion has been invested across the district to enhance school facilities, safety, and technology through what is known as the Half-Penny Promise.
More than $680 million of that work was awarded to local businesses, supporting jobs in our community.
At Hunter's Green Elementary, these voter-approved funds have supported new playgrounds for our kindergarten through 5th grade students and a complete roof replacement, helping create a safer, more efficient, and supportive learning environment for our students and staff.

Student Placement Requests
This is the time of year when families often share input or preferences for classroom placement for the upcoming school year. With a school community our size, we are not able to honor requests for specific teachers.
Please know our team is very thoughtful and intentional throughout the placement process. We carefully consider each student’s individual needs and do take parent input into account when determining the best possible placement. We invite you to use the link provided to share information about your child’s learning style, strengths, areas of need, interests, or anything else that would be helpful for us to know.
While we cannot accommodate specific teacher requests, we are committed to creating balanced, supportive classroom environments where every student can thrive.
Thank you for your partnership, understanding, and trust as we plan for a successful school year.
Dismissal Procedures
Please follow all rules of the road and parking lot expectations during arrival and dismissal. Cars should not be parked along Highland Oaks Drive, either inside or outside of Hunter’s Green, as this blocks the bike lane and forces students into traffic. If you are using the library parking lot for pick-up, please park in a designated space, avoid blocking other vehicles, and maintain safe driving speeds.
It is all of our responsibility to ensure students remain safe at all times, even when off campus. Thank you for your attention to this and for helping us keep our Panthers safe.
Class Dojo
If you haven’t already signed up for Class Dojo, please take a moment to do so. This is our primary communication tool for sharing important updates, class news, and student progress.
There is no need to purchase the paid version — the free version provides everything you need to stay connected with our classroom.
Birthday Treats
If you’d like to send in a treat for your child’s birthday, please make sure it is individually wrapped and prearranged with the teacher. Individually wrapped items, such as fruit snacks, ice cream sandwich bars, Twinkies, etc., help keep the process sanitary as students will be the ones passing out the treats. Thank you for helping us celebrate your child’s special day while maintaining a clean and safe environment for everyone!
