Cafeteria Changes Cafeteria Changes

Monday, October 23rd

Starting Monday, October 23rd, we will explore a change that for 2nd and 4th grade lunch times. Both lunch and recess periods will be adjusted, so 2nd grade will eat at 12:15 PM and 4th grade will eat at 12:25 PM. The other grades will stay the same.

What will this do? This change, along with other adjustments, will allow us to fully utilize our gym/ cafeteria during the lunch hours. The benefit? Each grade will have their own lunch time, which should have a major impact on the lunch environment. With any type of mid-year change, this will come with wrinkles that need to be ironed out. The plan is to pilot the new schedule for a few days and work out the logistical complexities internally prior to finalizing.

Extended Absence? Extended Absence?

Friendly reminder to please provide the school with ample notice and in the event of an extended absence (such as a week's vacation). Any absence that exceeds 20 days, would require a withdraw from school.

Issue 14 Issue 14

ISSUE 14 (SCS RENEWAL LEVY)

On November 7, 2023 Strongsville City Schools will have a renewal levy on the ballot. Our District seeks the renewal of a 5.9 mill operating levy that was initially approved by voters in May 2019. This was the first time new operating money was authorized by the voters since November 2007.

Since 2019, the last time Strongsville City Schools had a renewal on the ballot, the Auditor of State has established new guidelines with regard to school levies and how information can be shared from Ohio school districts to local communities for ballot issues. It is important that Strongsville City Schools provides the facts for upcoming ballot issues. The information on our website (https://www.strongnet.org/community/issue-14-renewal-levy) is intended to assist our community members in making an informed decision. Have a question about Issue 14? Halloween Party & Parade Halloween Party & Parade

Friday, October 27th

We'll have a Halloween Party and Parade on Friday, October 27th. All families are welcome to join the outdoor parade, which will start around 2:00 PM. Please see the PDF guidance below for details on the parade. Afterwards, PTA party volunteers will be permitted building entry to assist with parties.

Costume Guidance: Students may bring their costume (or part of it) to school if they wish. They will have only a few minutes to dress at the start of the party. The costume needs to be something that your child can quickly slip on over his/her clothes. (Students will not be going to the restroom to change). No masks, hair color, face paint, makeup, or weapons are allowed at school.

Socktober Socktober

October 9th - October 27th

For the month of October, Student Council will be organizing "Socktober" for the whole school to participate in. Our goal is to collect enough socks to fill the display case! Socks can be dropped off in a box in the atrium (right as students walk into the school). If we're able to fill the whole display case, Mr. Marconi and Mr. Lawrence will have to stay off their feet and get from place to place by riding a tricycle. At the end of the month, we will donate all the socks to a homeless shelter in Cleveland.
