Week of November 2-6
A Note From Mrs. Kuzma
What a special day at Redstone!
It was such a treat to welcome everyone into the school from the rooftops this morning before enjoying our wonderful parade! We are so grateful for all of the families and friends who came out to watch, cheer, and celebrate. Days like today remind us just how special the Redstone family and community truly are!
And of course, one of the highlights of the week had to be the whipped cream pies in the face! What a fun way to celebrate Rockin' Run and bring a little extra laughter to the week. We loved it!
What an incredible Trunk-or-Treat event! We had an unbelievable turnout, and it was so much fun to see so many families come together and enjoy the evening. A HUGE thank-you to everyone who contributed the amazing treats and created such awesome trunks. You made it such a special event for our students and families!
It has been a busy and exciting week filled with Rockin' Run celebrations, and we continue to be amazed by the generosity, kindness, and support this community shows in so many ways. Thank you for showing up, celebrating with us, and making Redstone such a wonderful place to be!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and an amazing Halloween! Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night. Enjoy that extra hour of rest after such a busy week and all of the Halloween festivities!
Please know how grateful and blessed we feel to be part of this incredible community. Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend! 🎃
With gratitude,
Heather Kuzma

One Book One District
Douglas County School District has selected Just in Case: Saving Seeds in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault as this year's One Book, One District selection!
This fascinating nonfiction book explores the importance of protecting our planet's biodiversity and preserving seeds for future generations. Students are learning about the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, located on a remote Norwegian island near the North Pole, where millions of seeds are safely stored to protect our planet's future.
On Wednesday, November 4th, Redstone students will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual author visit from 10:00–10:45 AM!
To celebrate, we invite all students and staff to wear GREEN! Green represents plants, growth, and the importance of caring for our planet.
We are excited to come together as a school community to celebrate reading, science, and the small seeds that make a BIG difference!

Veterans Celebration and Assembly
Veterans Day Pastries and Coffee: 8:15-8:45AM in the Learning Commons
Prior to the Veterans Day assembly, the Student Lighthouse team will be hosting veterans and their family members in the learning commons. PTO will be providing pastries and coffee for the reception.
Redstone students will escort their special veteran guests into the assembly to kick off our celebration.
Assembly: 8:50-9:30AM in the Gym
Classes will begin arriving to be seated in the gym at 8:45 a.m. with the ceremony starting about 8:50 a.m. If you are unable to attend the Pastries and Coffee, please feel free to arrive and find a seat anytime after 8:30 a.m.
All students are encouraged and welcome to wear red, white, and blue on Wednesday the 11th.
iMovie Honoring Veterans:
The Student Lighthouse team wants to create a short video (in lieu of a guest speaker) honoring and celebrating Veterans in our community and those related to students at Redstone. If you have a family member or a close friend who is a veteran, we encourage you to send a short video. In the video, please introduce the veteran, what branch s/he served in, and answer ONE of the following questions:
What is a positive highlight from your time serving?
Why did you join the service?
How long, where and when did you serve?
What was your role?
How did you make a difference?
We will be combining all of the clips submitted and will show it during the assembly. Videos longer than one minute may be edited to fit the video timeframe. Please email the video to Mrs. Triplett (rtriplett@dcsdk12.org). All videos need to be submitted NO LATER THAN Monday, November 9th.
Wall of Heroes:
We are inviting families to submit pictures of veterans again this year for a Wall of Heroes. Please turn in your papers to the office, your teacher, or Mrs. Triplett. We would love for you to include your own friends or family members as well! All pictures are due by Monday, November 9th.
Please print this page, fill it out, and attach a picture onto this template.
Community Outreach Project Donations:
Redstone is collecting adult activity (sudoku, crossword, word search) and coloring books, pencils, pens, individual-sized pencil sharpeners, and gallon sized bags to donate to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Students can put their donations directly into the bins/boxes in Towne Center. All items need to be brought in between November 2nd and November 13th.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Veterans Day and honor our community veterans!
Kindly,
Mrs. Triplett, Mrs. Thomas & the Student Lighthouse Team
