Dear DMS Families,

Teacher Appreciation Week is approaching, and while we appreciate our teachers hard work each day at DMS, I also want to make sure to formally recognize all they do for DMS as we move into next week. We are so thankful for each of them, and we appreciate their dedication to their students! In addition, I know many DMS parents/guardians are also teachers in DR and other districts. Thank you for your dedication to the teaching profession, as you play a crucial role in your student's lives each day.

Next week, we will continue with Math MCAS for grades 7 and 8. Grade 7 will test on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, and Grade 8 will test on Thursday and Friday. This will conclude testing for Grades 6 and 7, while Grades 5 and 8 will continue with STE testing in the coming weeks.

As we said with ELA, it is important that students arrive to school on time on their assigned testing days, as to not have to participate in a make- up session on another school day. While we know that things do come up unexpectedly, we are hoping that you will notify our Main Office if you are aware in advance of any appointments where students will be dismissed from school on testing days. This will help us determine if they should participate in a make- up session instead. Thank you in advance for your partnership as we move through MCAS season.

Below you will find information on the PTO Color Run, DRRHS CTE Summer Camp, cheerleading try- outs, and soccer, as well as the FCSN IEP Workshop flier.

Have a great week!

8th Grade End of Year Events

We know that 8th grade students and families are highly anticipating their end of year events at DMS. Information will be coming to families very soon from Grade 8 teachers. Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Rose as we move into next week.

Students at Baseball/Softball Games

Students are more than welcome to return to DMS to watch their friends play baseball/softball. However, they should take their regularly scheduled transportation home, and return for the game if they would like to watch. We are finding that not many students staying for the game are actually watching it. If this is the case, students should not attend. Games do not begin until 3:15/3:30 p.m., and school staff is not always after school to monitor students between the end of the day and the game. With that, it is important to note that school staff is also not always in attendance at softball/baseball games, so it is recommended that students come to the game with an adult.

A Message from Assistant Principal McGourty A Message from Assistant Principal McGourty

This week, Mrs. McGourty met with each grade level to discuss the end of year expectations with students. This presentation included expectations for academics and behavior, as well as the idea that field trips are earned activities. We are hoping that you will also discuss this with your child as we move towards the end of the school year. We are looking forward to a great end of year and are excited about what is to come.

PTO Announcement: Color Run

Guess what it is?!?!?! It is time for Booster! The Dighton PTO holds a Fun Run (DES) and a Color Run (DMS) each year as our BIG fundraiser! We are kicking off our 7th year! This year, Booster has partnered with Dude Perfect! The kids will be so excited! This fundraiser helps fund a huge chunk of our budget for things like field trips, agendas for DMS, 4th grade yearbook, teacher requests, playground updates....We could go on and on! This year we need your help to raise as much as possible to continue to do what we do! We cannot do this without you!

Kick off will be on Friday, May 24, 2024. Keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for some really cool stuff!
