Social Studies - Senior information:

This is always a great time of year in our social studies department. We have been working on a variety of applied knowledge projects such as Presidential Debates in Government, Broncotank in Economics, Consumerism Commercials in Junior History, and more. With spring officially in the air and senioritis setting in, we thought that rather than detailing some of those projects, it would make more sense to use this space as a reminder about Senior Presentations.

As part of our graduation requirements at BHS every senior needs to complete a senior paper and presentation. They should complete their paper in English class and their presentation in their Gov. B class. Students are responsible for giving a presentation that shows how they have grown as a learner during the last four years. They do NOT need to host a community event or complete a service project. They simply need to prepare and give a 10 minute presentation to a trusted educator at the High School. Once their completed rubric is brought back to their Gov. B teacher, they will meet that graduation requirement. If you are unsure if your senior has completed their senior presentation/paper, that information can be found on infinite campus.

Attendance & Credits

Attendance & Credits

Graduation and the end of the year are speedily approaching and opportunities to make up time to recover your credits are limited!

Seniors - you will need to make up all of your time to participate in graduation activities (Senior Walk, Lagoon, etc.) .The last day to make up time to participate in the BHS graduation ceremony is Tuesday, May 23rd. Seniors may not attend the Senior Walk or Lagoon if they owe time for credits toward meeting the graduation requirements! Students failing to make up time to meet graduation requirements will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 25th.

You may still earn your diploma if time is made up after May 23rd and graduation requirements are met, you just won't be able to participate in the graduation procession and ceremony.

Any NC (No Credit) will become an F at the end of the school year if the time has not been made up to recover the credit.

All Students - Please be aware that NCs (No Credits) become F's on your transcript if time is not made up. Make it up soon so it won't impact your ability to earn credits toward graduation! The last day for 9-11th graders to make up time to receive credits is Thursday, May 25th. Any NC (No Credit) will become an F at the end of the school year if the time has not been made up to recover the credit.

YEARBOOK

ATTENTION PARENTS:

The year is almost over. Don't let the memories of the year disappear forever. There is a limited number of yearbooks still available for purchase. This year's book is 236 pages of full color!! Contact Niki Johnson in the business office before it is too late.

Athletic Department:

April has been an interesting month for Spring sports - to say the least. The weather has not cooperated with us very much. Our athletes have had to brave the weather in order to compete.

We have had Senior nights for Baseball, Tennis and Softball already and we are now heading into Districts really soon, even though it feels like spring just started. Thanks to our ICCU Fieldhouse, we can train even in this crazy weather.

We had a couple more signings in April. Riley Layton will be continuing her education while playing basketball at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake Washington. Olivia Taufu’i will be continuing her education while playing volleyball at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Austin Ramirez signed for wrestling at Providence College in Montana, and Whitney Christiansen signed for Track at Utah Tech

We LOVE our fans so if you would like to come out and support us click the link below, follow our facebook page, or go to our website for our teams schedules and any updates we may have.

FFA

Blackfoot FFA had the privilege of helping the Bingham County Extension office during the Ag Safety day on May 2nd. While participating in this event, 14 FFA members helped to teach local elementary students about safety in agriculture. Topics that were addressed included ATV safety, electricity, Ranch safety, search and rescue, wool processing, and many others. Blackfoot FFA would like to thank the Bingham County Extension office for the opportunity to get out and take an active part in our community. (see picture below)
