PoDs Pride Day: Spirit, Swag & Surprises!

Next Friday, September 19, the Stevens Point Area School District is celebrating School Pride Day—and here at Point of Discovery, we’re going BIG with PoDs Pride Day! Every student who walks through our doors will get a surprise prize to kick off the day—think fidget toys, PoDs swag, or even a sweet treat! Want an extra prize!? Show off your school spirit by rocking blue, silver/white, or clothing with the PoDs logo, and you’ll score a bonus prize! And for those students who have kept up perfect attendance, your names will go into a special drawing for the biggest prize of them all: a cozy PoDs Pride blanket. Let’s fill the halls with spirit, smiles, and PoDs pride!

It has been brought to our attention that there is at least one case of head lice affecting junior and senior high school students. While lice are more common in elementary schools, this year we are seeing them appear among older students as well.

Please check your student’s head carefully, as well as all household members. Lice can spread before they are noticed, and anyone can get them.

To help reduce the spread:

Students with long hair should keep it pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
Remind students to avoid head-to-head contact such as hugging, selfies, leaning close together, sharing hoodies, hats, coats, clothing, hairbrushes/combs, etc.

If you have questions, please contact the school office at 715-345-5566. Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy.

Seal-A-Smile is a free dental program coming to our school!

Students can get cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and a toothbrush kit—all during the school day at no cost to families. After each visit, you’ll get a note about the care your child received.

The first visit is November 24 at 7:45am—a perfect time to get teeth cleaned before Thanksgiving break.

(A permission form must be filled out before any child can participate. All procedures will follow recommendations from the American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for school-based dental programs)
