August Updates
___________________
The Office is Now Open
Please feel free to call us or stop by if you have any questions, need to turn enrollment paperwork in or want to pay for your school supplies.
Reminders:
1st day of school – August 26th
School Starts at: 7:45am
School Ends at: 2:20pm
School Supplies Donation
Bethany doesn’t have a traditional school supply list. Instead of each family shopping on their own, we ask parents to donate the money needed for supplies. We then purchase everything through the school. We started doing this a few years ago, and it has worked well.
This system has several benefits:
- All students in a class have the same supplies
- Supplies purchased in bulk are less expensive
- Teachers only buy what they need. (prevents stockpiles or waste)
- Flexibility to purchase more enriching and creative materials for projects.
As you can see below I have been busy this week ordering supplies and sorting through the deliveries. I am becoming good friends with the Amazon, UPS, and FedEx drivers as they come see me everyday.

Here is Where We Need Your Help
We ask that families donate $35.00 per student.
You can donate in a couple of ways:
- Pay online with a credit card starting today. Check out the links below for the online payment system and instructions if this is your first time.
- Cash or Check: We are now open so you can bring cash or a check to the school office. You can also pay during Lemonade in the Shade,
Online Payment Link. Starting this year the District will be adding a fee for using the credit card system to cover the transaction fees charged by banks:
- A convenience fee of 40 cents plus 3.69% of the sale amount will be applied to all credit card transactions. This includes both in-person payments at school locations as well as payments processed through the online portal. (The cost will be approximately $1.30 in fees). No fee will be applied to payments made by cash or check.
Instructions for Online Payment System
We understand that some families are not able to afford the cost of supplies. All children will receive the same supplies, regardless if they are able to contribute towards the cost.
Some families may be in the position to make an extra donation towards helping others. If you would like to help by giving extra money, please click on the "Donations" tab that appears on your child's grade level page.
These donations are flexible, and confidential--only the office knows who donates and how much.

Attention Kindergarten Parents
First Week of School Schedule
Important
You may have received an email from the District about Kindergarten students only going two full days the first week of school. Bethany will not be following that format, as we are trying out a new model to see how it works. We will have our Kindergarten students come every day, see the information below.
August 26 - 29th
Kindergarten students will attend school in smaller groups for HALF DAYS during the first week of school for more personalized attention. Please click on the link below for important information about this schedule.
2025-2026 School Calendar of Events
As a parent, it's crucial to know when your child's school will be closed for various events. Planning ahead can help you make arrangements for childcare, schedule family vacations, and ensure that your child doesn't miss any important school days.
Our school events calendar includes all the important dates you need to know, such as:
- Vacation Days: Find out when your child will have time off for holidays, including Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, and more.
- Conferences: Learn when parent-teacher conferences are scheduled. You will receive information from your teacher on how to sign up, as we get closer to the dates.
- Teacher Workdays: Discover when teachers will be working but students will have the day off, giving you a chance to plan activities for your child.
We will have other events added to our calendar through the school year, and will share that information through the weekly Bobcat Blast Newsletter.
Please Complete Your Online Verification
Note From the District
The online verification process through ParentVUE is now open. These verifications are meant for currently enrolled students. For safety reasons, we encourage parents to complete the required annual process before school begins. If you don’t complete this process before the start of the school year, it doesn’t mean your child isn’t enrolled in our school. Verification simply allows you to double-check that important information such as emergency contacts and any health/medication requirements are up-to-date in our system.
In ParentVUE, click on the “Family Updates and New Student Enrollment” tab in the top right-hand corner to start the verification process. A message will display in your ParentVUE portal with a link to the online verification screens for your review.
If you haven’t activated your ParentVUE account or if you have access concerns, please contact the office and we can give you your activation code. If you’ve forgotten your ParentVUE password, please follow these instructions to reset.
Bethany Security Fence
You may have noticed the work going on around our building. This summer Bethany is getting a new security fence.
When the fence is completed, it will be locked during school hours to keep students, staff, visitors, and volunteers safe. After school and on weekends, gates will be open for the community and sports to access the property..
The project is expected to finish before the school year begins. We will keep you posted on any updates.
Beaverton Students Receive Free School Meals
For the second year in a row, all students in the Beaverton School District can get one free breakfast and one free lunch each day during the 2025-26 school year. Students don’t need to pay or fill out extra forms to take advantage of this benefit.

Volunteering At Bethany
This is for New Families. If you were in the system last year, you are still approved.
To safeguard the safety and well-being of our students and staff, each prospective volunteer must complete an application through our districtwide volunteer management system called Raptor and then submit to an Oregon criminal records check. You'll receive a confirmation email as soon as the application has been approved.
We encourage families to complete the volunteer application and background check this summer. Doing it now should help you get approved before school begins.
Our Jog-A-Thon is coming up in September, and we'll need many volunteers. If you'd like to help out, please make sure your volunteer application is finished beforehand.
