Week 30

Welcome Back
April 6, 2026
Welcome back from Spring Break! Hopefully everyone is returning a little taller, a little more rested, and ready to tackle the remainder of the school year.
We will be kicking off this term with an SBA medal awarding ceremony on Monday, April 6. If your child was in 3rd or 4th grade last year and scored “Met” or “Exceeded” on the Smarter Balanced Assessment for the 2024–2025 school year, we will be recognizing their achievement with a certificate and a medal.
Not only is this assembly a celebration of their hard work, but we also hope to use it as a springboard to get students motivated and prepared for this year’s test. I have included an image of this year’s testing schedule here.
Please help us ensure your child is present on testing days. Research shows that students perform better in a comfortable, familiar environment with their regular teacher, so we want to avoid make-up testing whenever possible. There will also be perfect attendance incentives and daily treats to help motivate students.
School Librarian Day
Ms. Jennifer is not only our library aide, but she also supports us in many other ways: push-in instruction, after-school intervention, Multnomah store clerk, parent yearbook contact, and Dance Team coach, just to name a few. She never lets her title define the work she is willing to do to support our students—that’s how much she loves Multnomah!
We are so lucky to have this GEM as part of our team!
If you are home, have your child make a card or write a note to thank Ms. Jennifer for all her tireless efforts. If you are out and about and would like to pick up a small thank-you gift, she enjoys the following:
- Neapolitan treats
- Any flavor of cake
- Iced tea or Clementine Izze
- Grape Pez or Kit Kat
- Dodgers or Amazon items/gift cards
- And especially chatting with the students
Bring it to school on Monday!

Summer School
Registration for summer school will be open this week! Log on on April 9th and sign your child up if you would like them to attend summer school. Multnomah will be hosting Summer School site this summer. Last year we had quite a few students interested but wait-listed because they signed up late. So don't let it happen to you this year!
Summer School will be from June 22nd - July 20th.
Hours are tentatively 8:30 am - 12:20 pm with Beyond the Bell care from 12:20 pm - 6:00 pm.
Both programs require separate applications. Below is the information directly from the district website.
Transitional Kindergarten—7th Grade
The TK-7th Summer School program will be offered in person and is designed to support core instruction, provide targeted academic intervention in a small group setting, as well as in-person enrichment activities in the Arts and Sciences at all participating TK-7th summer school sites.
- Eligibility: Current Los Angeles Unified students with District ID number in grades TK-7th
- Program Dates: June 22 – July 20, 2026
- Program Times: 8:30 am - 12:20 pm
- Learning Method: In-person
- How to Apply: Visit enroll.lausd.net
2026-2027 Enrollment
We are currently accepting permit request forms. If you do not live within our residential boundaries, you must first obtain a release from your resident school and provide one of the district-approved reasons for the permit request.
Please note that permit requests will not be reviewed at this time. They will be time-stamped and collected for review in late April, as priority must first be given to students who live within our residential boundaries.
If you live within our boundaries and have new students to enroll, enrollment packets will be available starting April 1st.
Magnet Alert
Deadline Friday, April 10th
Please log in to the portal to check your application status.
If you have been waitlisted: No action is required at this time.
If you have been selected: You must log in and accept or decline the offer.
Accepting the offer means you agree to move your child from their current program to the magnet program for which you applied and were selected. After accepting the offer in the portal, please come to the school office to pick up a modified enrollment packet for the 2026–2027 school year. Once the packet is completed and returned, your enrollment process will be finished.
If you applied but are no longer interested, please decline the offer in the portal so that a student on the waitlist may have the opportunity to enroll.
If you do nothing by the deadline, you will automatically be dropped.
