WEEKLY HAWK
February 23-27, 2026
Message from Mrs. Lloyd
Hello Homestead Families,
Another fun week has come and gone. Last week, students were welcomed back from their 4-day weekend with an awesome Neon party hosted by Ms. Brownell, Mrs. Forrestal, and Ms. Schlatter! Students had a great time dancing, jump roping, and collecting prizes! Meanwhile, upstairs, our adorable PreKs celebrated Valentine's Day! Additionally, Mrs. Lester has been hard at work reorganizing and renewing our library space. It is still a work in progress but she has been helping the space find a new organizational flow, rearranging shelves and furniture to make it more inviting, purchasing new and exciting texts, and more! We are so excited to have the opportunity to reinvigorate this important educational space!
Did you see the great mention from the Superintendent message last Friday? Dr. Perry states "...as evidenced by strong growth data on the STAR assessment. Thirty-six schools demonstrated above-average growth. Three schools—Altitude, Homestead, and Coyote Hills—achieved an exceptional Median Growth Percentile of 60 or higher." Additionally, I want to highlight that our Winter Star data showed the highest Median Growth Percentile for special education students in the whole district. This is a community achievement - the power of hard-working teachers, dedicated students, and supportive families. Let's keep climbing and achieving, Hawks!
A shout out to Lou, Eddie, Robert, and Marvin who represented the Homestead Chess Club at the PALS Chess Tournament in the DTC. All four students chose to stay to the end and complete all 5 rounds of play, showing great Hawks spirit and perseverance. Great job!
This week we have a lot of exciting things planned including a 4th/5th grade teacher site visit to West Middle School and 3rd Grade's Sip and Share!
If you haven't already, please book a time for your Spring Conference. We love catching up with you and talking all about your child's academic and personal growth and progress.
Take care,
Katie
Hawks Highlights
This week's Hawks Highlights were:
Henry: I did good in Second Step.
Ryker: I did a good job in Second Step.
Maddy: I am always helping!
Ethan: Finding the thing in Find It, Fix It!
4th Grade Service Learning Art Project
Fourth-graders donated 25 hand-knotted fleece blankets to the Children’s Hospital. Students practiced textile skills while learning about empathy and helping others. The blankets will provide comfort and warmth to children during their hospital stay. This project was a labor of love requiring collaboration, task organization, and lots of fine motor development. Congrats on a job well done!
One Hub for All School Expenses: MySchoolBucks
We are excited to share that we are expanding our use of MySchoolBucks to provide a more convenient way for families to handle school costs.
You likely already use this platform to add snack money to your student's lunch account. Beginning after spring break, you can use that same login to take care of other items, such as:
- Lost library book fees
- Club or Grade Level t-shirt sales
- Other school-related fees
What You Need to Do:
- Existing Users: Simply log in as usual. You will see these new options available in the "School Store" or "Invoices" section.
- New Users: If you don't have an account yet, please create a free account today. Having your login ready now will ensure a quick and easy checkout for upcoming sales.
Thank you for helping us consolidate our school payments into one easy-to-use location!
If you have any questions about getting started with MySchoolBucks, call (855) 832-5226. For any general questions, please contact Homestead’s front office at 720.554.3700.
More Help Needed in Art!
Second grade will be doing a clay project and Mrs. Forrestal is in need of help with this project. If you can help, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4AA8AC2CAAFFC61-62088296-2ndgrade#/
Your child does not need to be in second grade to volunteer.

Looking for After School Activities?
We have several after school clubs and summer activities offered at Homestead through outside organizations such as Chess Club and Coding Club. Stop by the front lobby of our school to see what is offered and pick up a flyer for more information. Or, click on this link to access the flyers electronically.
ATTENTION: All Volunteers at Homestead
Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.
If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. To access the form, click on the following link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NzU0OmVuLVVT or scan the QR code. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.
Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. Every person entering our buildings must have a badge printed from our Raptor system or a District ID.
We want to thank you in advance for your support of our schools and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Homestead main office at 720.554.3700.
