5th Grade Panels | Volunteers Needed | June 9 - 11
It’s nearly time to send our 5th graders off to middle school. First, they’ll participate in one of Thornton Creek’s most beloved traditions: Panels. From June 9 -11, each 5th grader will share what they’ve learned and the passions they’ve discovered during their time at Thornton Creek with a small group of adult community members and teachers (not 5th grade guardians). Panels are an absolute joy and a favorite volunteer opportunity. It takes many volunteers to make them happen! Please sign up below.
For K-4th grade families:
Please sign up here to be a panelist. Time slots range from 50-90 minutes and you can sign up for a few if you'd like. You'll listen attentively to a 10-min presentation and then ask thoughtful questions (don't worry, we've got some to get you started). Listening to our students is just the best. This opportunity is open to current K-4th families, former teachers, former TC families, grandparents, other invested community members, etc.
For 5th grade families:
You can't be a panelist if you have a 5th grader, but you CAN (and hopefully will) sign up to be a parent host (checking kids and panelists in, handing out snacks after, making sure everything runs smoothly). We also need donations of refreshments (juice boxes/sparkling water, chips, granola bars, cookies, fruit like oranges and apples, etc.) for the kids as a treat when they're done. Please sign up for both those roles here.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Chelsea Lin: chelsea.d.lin@gmail.com.
Wheelchair Access Points | Please Mind the Ramps!
Please do not park, or sit in your car, in a way that blocks access to ramps or prevents a wheelchair from entering or exiting a vehicle. We have ramps at all of our drop-off / load-in locations and they have all been freshly painted for clarity. Thank you for your important support.
Order Your Yearbook!
Yearbook orders are happening now through Thursday, May 28th. Here's the link to purchase a yearbook for your student(s). If you are able, please consider donating a yearbook as well. Your donation will help us ensure that every student will receive a yearbook. Thank you.
From Kristen in the Library | All books due no later than Friday, June 12th.
The end of the year is so near! That means library services are shutting down in a few weeks, so here’s your heads up! Final library classes and student book checkouts are on May 29th. All books should be returned no later than Friday, June 12 -- but earlier is super helpful! Thank you.
Recruiting for 2026-2027 library volunteers!
Kristen needs help in the library every morning to get books checked in and returned to shelves. This is usually from 8:00-9:00 and may include helping with the first class of the day. Please fill this out if you will be a new-to-the-library volunteer: New library volunteer 2026-2027 – Fill out form
Families of 4th Graders please help with our 5th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony
We’re looking for volunteers to help with our 5th grade moving-up ceremony on Wednesday, June 17th. If you're available to lend a hand, please sign up! If you have any questions, please contact Sterling Maximo at volunteer@thorntoncreekparentgroup.org. Thank you so much!
Summer Watering Club
We will need summer watering help to keep our young trees healthy and thriving. Trees will need to be watered two to three times during your assigned week. The TC Parent Group landscaping crew will provide all the information you will need once you sign up.
