We are so very lucky to have Ms. Cara Spitzner as our Media Specialist! She has done so many thing to develop a love of books and reading with our students. One thing she does (with the help of many parent volunteers) is host an amazing bookfair that starts Thursday Night at 5:00 and will continue all next week!

Another thing she does is she invites amazing REAL LIFE authors to come talk to our students! All of the students will get to hear from an author this year but last week our 1st & 2nd Graders had a special experience with one! This one was very special because it was a collaboration between the library and Art with Mrs. Emily Dailey!

On September 3rd, New Prospect welcomed Devin Elle Kurtz, author/illustrator of the bestselling picture book The Bakery Dragon! First and Second graders got to meet the author, then heard a presentation about her life and what inspired her to create Ember, the book's protagonist. Before the event, students completed projects in Media Center and Art; these projects were displayed so the author could see them! We can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Thank you for being so supportive of our love for books & reading at NPE!

1. Grandparents MUST bring the child to school or get dropped off in the carpool line with the parents. Grandparents must drive with their grandchildren to come, they can’t meet students at school if they ride the bus.

2. The only reason a child’s parent is allowed to come to the event is if the grandparent needs them for mobility issues. This is NOT an event for parents.

3. Grandparents must arrive between 7:00am - 7:30am to participate. Please get a sticker from the front desk when you arrive.

4. Grandparents can visit the bookfair but must leave by 8 am.
