Get Ready for Spirit Week!
Wednesday Picnic Lunch on the Lawn 🌿
Pack a picnic, grab a blanket, and join your student for a relaxed lunch together on the lawn. We’d love to see you there!
Please check the schedule below for your child’s lunch time:
- 6th–8th Grades: 10:10–10:40
- TK: 10:30–11:00
- Kindergarten: 10:40–11:10
- 1st Grade: 11:05–11:35
- 2nd & 3rd Grades: 11:25–11:55
- 4th & 5th Grades: 11:55–12:25
For the safety and supervision of everyone, we ask families to follow these guidelines:
- Bring your ID to sign in at the front office
- Pack your own lunch (the cafeteria will be serving students only and understand it takes them time to get through the line)
- Plan to sit together on the grass. It is Lunch on the Lawn, after all!
- Younger siblings are welcome but please keep them with you at all times
- Classes will arrive for lunch with their teacher; families can meet students in line and then make their way to the lawn.
- Students only will be excused to the playground about 20 minutes after lunch begins (listen for the whistle!)
- Please stay on the lawn - no classroom or playground visits for families or siblings
- We kindly ask you to avoid early check-outs. Staying through the full instructional day supports consistency in important end-of-day routines and minimizes classroom disruption. Thank you, our staff truly appreciates it!
We’re looking forward to a fun and easy breezy time together!
Join Us Wednesday for TK-8 Open House!
We’re excited to welcome all families to visit TK-8 classrooms on Wednesday, April 22 from 5:00–6:00 PM!
Open House is a wonderful celebration of the teaching and learning happening in our elementary and middle school classrooms each day. It’s a unique opportunity for families to step into their child’s world at school so we encourage everyone to attend! You'll be able to see the work students have been doing, experience the classroom environment, and learn more about your student's daily routines and growth this year.
We hope you can make it!
Month of the Military Child
April is the Month of the Military Child, and we’re excited to celebrate our amazing military-connected students! 💜 We’re so proud of the strength, flexibility, and resilience they bring to our school community each day.
Our elementary and middle school student leaders have got lots planned, including a fun spirit week, to celebrate throughout the month. Check out the details below!

Register Now for Summer Camp!
The 2026 Summer Camp Pre-Registration Form is OPEN NOW for current OUSD students rising to grades K-8! The form must be submitted by May 15th.
For questions and program updates, please see the Program Webpage.
Crosswalk Volunteers
We’re looking for a few helping hands to support student safety at the crosswalks before and after school. Our PTO is ready to organize volunteers to help students cross the street safely and PMO has agreed to provide training.
If you’re able to help, even occasionally, please reach out to our PTO at northterracepto@yahoo.com
PTO Support Needed
The PTO plays a vital role in supporting our students and staff through events, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. At this time, however, it’s facing a serious challenge: without new volunteers stepping into key leadership and support roles, the PTO will not be able to continue.
We are currently looking for parents who are willing to serve in essential positions for the upcoming school year. Even a small amount of your time can make a meaningful difference for our students.
If you’ve ever considered getting more involved, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact. If you’re interested in learning more or volunteering, please reach out to northterracepto@yahoo.com
.Let’s work together to keep the PTO - and all it brings to our students - going strong!

Caring for Our Military-Connected Students and Families
With everything that is happening in the world today, we recognize that many military families may be experiencing added stress and uncertainty. In addition to our school counselor, Mrs. Rogers, we have our Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC), Ms. Wences, available to support military-connected families as they navigate this challenging time.
Ms. Wences can provide confidential counseling services to children and youth up to age 18 in groups and individually, as well as their families. MFLCs provide support on topics including but not limited to separation from parents, deployment/reunification, sibling/parent relationships, feelings identification, self-esteem, bullying, and problem solving.
Whether your child needs someone to talk to, or you would like guidance on ways to support your student at home/school, services are available. We are here to support and connect our families with any resources that may be helpful during this time.
If you would like Military & Family Life Counseling support or have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Wences at 760-901-7550 (office)/541-805-6312 (cell).
OUSD Pre-Enrollment Now Underway
The pre-enrollment window for all TK-12 grade students who are not currently attending OUSD is now open. Visit Oside.us to get started. If your student is currently enrolled you do not need to pre-enroll. We will invite you to complete data confirmation this summer.
Empezó el periodo de preinscripción para los estudiantes de grados TK a 12 que actualmente no asisten a ninguna escuela en nuestro distrito escolar. Para empezar, visite oside.us. Si su hijo ya está matriculado, no es necesario hacer este paso. Les vamos a invitar a hacer la “confirmación de datos” durante el verano.
Construction Updates
We’ve added a dedicated Construction Updates page to the North Terrace website to keep families informed about our campus modernization project.
You can find it by going to the North Terrace website → “Our School” → “Construction Updates”.
On this page, you’ll find meeting links to presentation overviews and a recording if you weren’t able to attend the modernization meetings. Ongoing updates about construction phases, FAQs, and campus adjustments such as drop-off changes, fencing, and campus access will also be posted here.
We encourage you to check the Construction Updates page regularly so you can stay informed and up to date as the project moves forward!
Riding to School? 4 Things to Know 🚲 🛴🛹
We love seeing students start their day with some great exercise by biking, skating, or scootering to school! Here are 4 things for families to know:
1. Helmets Required! A buckled helmet is required every time. No helmet = no riding. It’s the law and protects growing brains!
2. E-Bikes: 12+, Permit, Rear Light/Reflector Needed! Students must be 12 years or older AND have a valid OUSD e-bike permit to bring an e-bike on campus. New Requirement: All E-bikes are now required to have a red reflector or red rear light (solid or flashing) visible from 500 feet at all times.
3. Walk it on Campus! Bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be walked on campus (and when leaving). It's time to hop off and start walking when you get to the A-frame signs posted along the sidewalks.
4. Park it in the Racks! Bikes & scooters must be parked in designated bike racks. Propping against the fence not only looks tacky, but bikes and scooters do tip over and become a tripping hazard.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our campus a safe and welcoming place for all!
Pick-up and Drop-off Safety Reminders
Arrival and dismissal can be a busy and exciting time for students, especially on Wednesdays when all of our students dismiss at the same time. To help keep everyone safe, we ask families to please talk with their children about safe street-crossing habits.
Please remind your student to use crosswalks, walk their bikes or scooters when crossing, look both ways, and avoid darting between parked cars. These simple reminders at home reinforce our school expectations and make a big difference in keeping dismissal safe for all of our students, pedestrians, and drivers.
Additionally, to help keep pick-up and drop-off safe and smooth, please remember that families are to use the designated loading zone in front of the school. For safety reasons, students should not be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot.
Thank you for partnering with us to support a safe and smooth dismissal for everyone!

It is a companion to our OUSD Parent Handbook and includes more specific information about North Terrace policies and procedures, and available supports for your student.

Smart Watches & Cell Phones... During the Day, Off and Away
Our OUSD policy is: “During the Day, Off and Away!” This means all personal devices — including phones and smartwatches — must be turned off and kept in backpacks from arrival until dismissal.
Please help us reinforce this expectation at home. When we work together, we create a focused learning environment that helps all our Tigers stay present, connected, and ready to learn!
