π Windsong Weekly: December 19, 2025
Dear Windsong Ranch Elementary Families,
As we head into the winter break, the staff at the Ranch want to wish all of our families a safe, warm, and restful break. May this time be filled with joy, meaningful moments together, and a chance to recharge.
Please note that we do not have school on Monday, 1/5, this is staff professional learning day. We look forward to seeing students back on Tuesday, 1/6, refreshed and ready for the new year!
Together we Prosper,
Michelle Qualls

Reminders
For the safety of all students, please do not drop students off in the parking lot during morning arrival. If you need to walk your child into the building, you must park in a designated spot and escort them inside. Thank you for helping us keep our arrival safe and smooth for everyone!
Gifted and Talented referral window is open now through 1/16/2026
If you feel your child consistently demonstrates gifted learner characteristics and s/he has instructional needs that go beyond the rigor of the general classroom, please submit your referral form by January 16th, 2026. This form can be found on the Gifted & Talented page of the district website. Students on the referral list will be evaluated during the spring. Results will be shared in April for services to begin in August 2026

Staying Connected: Safety Conversations for Families
How We Partner Together
As we conclude our anti-victimization lessons, students whose parents provided consent have recently completed these lessons with the school counselor. During these age-appropriate sessions, we empower your child by teaching them safe and effective ways to recognize and report inappropriate or unwanted situations. We focused on building strong self-advocacy skills, understanding the difference between safe and unsafe secrets, and identifying trusted adults in their lives.
Now is the perfect time to reinforce these lessons at home. This is where our partnership becomes essential: by continuing these important conversations at home, we can help our children feel confident and empowered in any situation they encounter.
To support these discussions, we have provided a list of suggested talking points and warning signs below.
Talking Points for Parents
Use these questions to start a non-judgmental conversation with your child about safety and boundaries:
What are some of the rules we have at our house for keeping your body safe? (A good way to start a general conversation about personal space.)
Tell me about a time when you used your voice to say 'No' to something you didn't want to do. (Validates their right to refuse.)
Who are the five people you would tell if something scary or confusing happened to you? (Help them create a list of trusted adults, and review this list regularly.)
What is the difference between a safe and unsafe secret? (Why is it important to tell an adult about an unsafe secret?)
If a person you didn't know offered you something you really liked (like a new toy or candy), what would you do? What should you do before accepting anything from anyone?
What does it mean to trust your 'gut feeling' or intuition? (Explain that if a person or situation makes them feel uncomfortable, they should leave and tell a trusted adult.)
Warning Signs to Watch For
It is normal for children to have ups and downs. However, if you notice several of these changes occurring together or lasting for a significant period, it may be a sign that something is wrong and warrants an open, caring conversation.
Sudden or Extreme Changes in Behavior
Becoming much more withdrawn, anxious, or clingy.
Unusual aggression, anger, or acting out.
Loss of interest in favorite activities or school.
Physical Indicators
Unexplained injuries, bruises, or complaints of pain.
Frequent stomach aches or headaches that prevent them from going to school or engaging in activities.
Changes in eating or sleeping habits (too much or too little).
Emotional & Social Shifts
Reluctance or refusal to go to school, participate in extracurricular activities, or see a specific person or group of people.
Regressive behaviors, like bedwetting or thumb-sucking, that they had previously stopped.
Talking about feeling worthless, helpless, or having strong negative feelings about themselves.
Campus Tours
You're Invited! Campus leadership, along with Prosper ISD Parent Ambassadors, will host campus tours for parents, grandparents and community members who would like to connect with our school communities and learn more about the positive things occurring in our Prosper ISD schools. A Joyful Mess created a winter color sheet for the students to work on at the party!! We also want to give a big shoutout to Ms. Greer for creating a GRINCH-Tastic color sheet for the parties.
