Pioneer Families November 9th-15th

PRINCIPAL'S CORNER-
💙 Barron Families,
As we approach Veterans Day, we proudly honor and thank all veterans within our Barron community — including our staff, parents, grandparents, and family members who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Your courage, commitment, and sacrifice remind us of the true meaning of service. We are deeply grateful for all you have done to protect our freedoms and for continuing to serve as role models for our Pioneers.
We also want to recognize our staff veterans who bring the same dedication they showed in service to our country into their work with our students each day. Thank you for your leadership and for inspiring our school community!
It’s been a wonderful and busy week at Barron! Our teachers and grade-level leaders have been planning engaging lessons using Lead4ward strategies that help all students learn in meaningful and exciting ways. Their dedication ensures that Barron remains a place where students learn and belong every single day.
This week, our students participated in a lockdown drill to practice safety procedures. We’re proud to share that the EPISD Police Department praised our students for following directions so well and remaining calm. Thank you, families, for talking with your children about safety and reinforcing the importance of listening and being prepared.
Our 2nd and 3rd graders had a special visit from members of the El Paso Rhinos hockey team and played volleyball together! Students had a great time and even received tickets to attend a Rhinos game — thank you to Ms. Berry for organizing such a fun event that supported teamwork and social-emotional learning.
We were also inspired by Author Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, also known as “Captain Mama,” who visited our campus as part of Reading Across the District. She shared her journey as a U.S. Air Force captain and led students in a creative writing activity that encouraged them to dream big. Ms. Crozier and Captain Mama were amazed by our students’ thoughtful writing — some pieces will even be featured soon!
We ended the week under the night sky for Reading Under the Stars. Families read together, enjoyed smores, and celebrated the joy of literacy. Thank you to Ms. Amador, Ms. Walker, and all the teachers, volunteers, and donors who helped make the evening special. Seeing our students’ smiles reminded us that learning truly shines brightest when shared with family.
Looking ahead, our teacher leadership team will continue attending Lead4ward training to strengthen instruction across all subjects. By focusing on student engagement, data, and high-quality materials, we aim to help every student reach their fullest potential.
Barron Elementary is truly a special place because of the partnership between our staff, students, and families. Together, we continue to build a community of excellence where every Pioneer learns and belongs.
With gratitude and pride,
The Barron Elementary Leadership Team
