The Mississippi Department of Education has announced that the state’s 2024–25 graduation rate reached 90.8%, exceeding the national rate of 86.6%. At the same time, the statewide dropout rate declined to 7%, showing continued academic progress across Mississippi.

We are proud to share that the Aberdeen School District ranks #6 in the state for highest graduation rate and #4 in Mississippi for lowest dropout rate.

This achievement reflects a commitment to high expectations, strong leadership, dedicated teachers, supportive families, and students who understand the importance of finishing what they start. Results like this come from consistent effort and a shared belief that every student can succeed.

Aberdeen, this is worth celebrating. Our scholars are crossing the stage prepared, confident, and ready for what lies ahead, and that says everything.

Honoring History, Elevating Voices

Students in Mrs. Quinn's English class recently presented their Black History Month PowerPoint projects, and they rose to the occasion.

Each student researched an influential figure and delivered a presentation that demonstrated strong writing, clear organization, and confident speaking. From civil rights leaders to innovators in the arts, science, and government, students explored the impact these individuals have had on our nation and our world.

These presentations were more than an assignment. They were an opportunity for students to practice research, strengthen communication skills, and learn how history continues to shape the present. Standing in front of their peers and sharing their work takes preparation and courage — and our students delivered.

We are proud of the effort, growth, and professionalism shown in English classrooms across campus. That’s #BulldawgPride.

Designing for the World Stage

Mrs. Rollison’s Graphic Design students recently put their creativity to work in a project that combined research, design, and presentation skills.

Students were assigned a country competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics. After researching popular foods and cultural influences from their selected nation, they designed an original food truck that reflected the flavors, style, and identity of that country. From logos and color schemes to menu boards and truck layouts, every detail had to be intentional and culturally inspired.

This project went beyond graphic design. Students strengthened their research skills, applied real-world branding concepts, and presented their finished trucks to the class, explaining their design choices and the cultural connections behind them.

Pictured are students hard at work on their designs, along with several who proudly completed the project. Creativity, critical thinking, and confident presentations on display, that’s #BulldawgPride.

Coding Creativity in Computer Science

This week in Ms. Oliver’s Exploring Computer Science classes, students are stepping into the world of JavaScript programming.

As they begin learning how to create and manipulate shapes through code, students are building a strong foundation in key concepts such as rectangles, circles, colors, coordinates, and layering. Instead of simply practicing isolated skills, they put their knowledge to work in a creative way.

For their first project, students designed and programmed their favorite food using only code. From detailed pizzas to colorful desserts, each design required careful planning, precision, and problem-solving. Every shape had to be placed intentionally, and every layer had to be written correctly to bring their creations to life.

This is how real learning happens, mastering the basics, applying them with purpose, and building confidence along the way. Our students are off to a strong start in programming, and we are proud of the focus and creativity they’re showing. That’s #BulldawgPride.

Champions of Character

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Hubbard and Chris Sykes for being selected to represent the Aberdeen School District through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as Champions of Character.

They will be honored on stage and presented with medals in recognition of their leadership, integrity, and commitment both on and off the field. This distinction is not simply about athletic ability, it reflects the kind of character that strengthens teams, schools, and communities.

Kaitlyn and Chris consistently demonstrate sportsmanship, respect, and a strong work ethic. They lead by example and represent our district with pride in every setting.

We are proud of the way they carry themselves and the standard they set for others. That’s #BulldawgPride.

Big Reading Numbers at Aberdeen Elementary

Congratulations to Aberdeen Elementary School for an incredible accomplishment, 385,701 words read!

That number represents more than pages turned. It reflects focus, commitment, and a campus-wide culture that values literacy. Strong readers become strong learners, and milestones like this don’t happen by accident. They happen because students show up ready to grow and teachers continue to emphasize the fundamentals that matter.

We are proud of our young readers for putting in the work and building habits that will serve them for years to come. Keep turning those pages, Bulldawgs, this is how success is built.

That’s #BulldawgPride.
