Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

We had a lovely, busy, joyful, (relatively) calm, successful first 3 days. Our kids were so happy to be back together and quickly adjusted to the routines of school. We played soccer and 4 square, listened to and told stories, noticed mathematical patterns, made fairy nests out milkweed, read books, climbed, ran around, chased grasshoppers, tidied our things, got rained on, wrote, practiced safely moving about the building in groups, and collectively taught our newest kinders how to do all the things.

Joyfully,

Nadya

The Garden

Two years ago, the then 5th graders helped design a new garden for Cornwall School. A Cornwall family helped build the beds, and Cornwall students carried countless shovel-fulls of topsoil and compost into the beds. Last fall, we planted cover crops, and in the spring, we planted a hodgepodge of what we had. Families brought extra starts and seeds they didn't need; Cornwall's kids happily put them in the ground.

Over the summer, garden fairies came to harvest and weed. When school started this year, our garden was flowering and producing.

This week when kids came for classroom visit day, many joined us in the garden asking, "Can I help?" You bet! We harvested cherry tomatoes over the last several days, and today offered them as one of the fruit and veggie choices at lunch (more on this fantastic new effort in another edition). Serving our kids food that they helped prepare the beds for, plant, weed, water and grow was a beautiful sight.

This could not have happened without the generous donations of time, plants, seeds, and efforts of our families. We're so grateful.
