Week In Review and A Look Ahead
November 7, 2025
Notes from the Principal
Conference sign-up information is found below in the newsletter. We hope you will be able to join us for some individual feedback as we near the end of Trimester 1.
MSE students will be participating in our first No Place for Hate activity of the year beginning next week in their grade level REACH class (beginning November 13th). Students will participate in the “The Power of Words” lesson led by their school counselor to help students reflect on the impact of harmful language. Students will then be asked to explore how their words can contribute to having a more positive MSE community by focusing on our MSE Bear Essentials of Respect, Responsibility & Safety. If you have any questions regarding this activity, please reach out to your student’s school counselor.
Fall Teacher Conferences
Fall conferences are set for Monday, November 24 from 1:00-3:00PM and again 4:00-7:00PM as well as Tuesday, November 25 from 1:00-3:00PM. Conferences may be in person or virtual. You are to sign up for the conferences using the sign-up link MSE Fall Conferences 2025 and you must indicate an in-person or virtual meeting. The sign-up link will open Wednesday, November 12 at 4:00PM and will close on Wednesday, November 19 at 4:00PM.
Links for virtual conferences will be emailed out by teachers to parents/guardians before noon on Monday, November 24.
Please be punctual for your conference as our teachers need to stay on schedule in order to not impact others and their scheduled times.
Those parents and guardians who will be coming into the building for Conferences are asked to take a few moments and look through our Lost and Found which will be moved to the Lobby. We have A LOT of water bottles, pencil cases, and clothes that have been left behind over the course of the trimester. All remaining items will be dontated to a local clothing shelter after the conferences.
October Star Students
Congratulations to our 6th and 7th grade Star Students for the month of October! These students were selected by their team teachers for their excellent work and citizenship this past month.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Student Council is hosting the Turkey Day Food Drive from November 5 - November 19. All items will be donated to Preston’s Pantry at Boyertown Area Multi-Service. See the image below for suggested items that are most needed at Preston’s Pantry. Students should bring donations to the library and place them in teachers’ boxes. The teacher with the most items in his/her box will have to wear a turkey costume on the last day of school before Thanksgiving break! The two runners-up will wear a turkey hat! Last year Mr. Covington took home the win. Who will be this year’s turkey winner?
Student Council Color Wars
Student Council is hosting a “Color War” on Friday, November 14th. This spirit day is a competition between grades where every grade will wear a different color. 6th grade will wear green, 7th grade will wear blue, and 8th grade will wear black. Homeroom teachers will help us calculate which grade is most spirited! Teachers will also be voting for the individual student from each grade level who is most spirited. Wear your grade-level color, and let’s see which grade level is most spirited!

Support for SNAP
Based on recent conversations with many of United Way's agency partners and other service providers, that call volume from families seeking help has increased dramatically. Across our community, people are facing reductions or delays in SNAP benefits, income disruptions, and mounting financial stress, and they are turning to trusted organizations for answers.
In response, United Way of Berks County has created a resource guide to offer some clarity and connection during these challenging times. Please click the attachment below for more resources.
Additionally Student Services and Food Services have created a resource that can be shared with our families who normally receive SNAP benefits and/or are experiencing food insecurity during the government shutdown. information can be found HERE, is attached below, and is posted to our Food Services section of the BASD website.
