Principal's Message
Note from Mrs. Lockwood:
It’s hard to believe this is the last week of the school year! This has been an amazing year of teaching and learning. All are welcome to join our final Community Circle of the school year. Take some time to get outside, have fun, and rest this summer. To all my second graders: go be great at Talley and make me proud! To all returning bulldogs, I can't wait to hear all about your summer adventures!
Lots of love,
Ms. Lockwood

Congratulations to our outstanding second graders as they finish their time at Clairemont and embark on a new adventure in upper elementary. The past three years have been a time of incredible friendships, learning, and growth. They will be dearly missed and better come back and say hello from time to time!

Highlights of the Week
Trip to the Carlos Museum
First annual Clairemont Cafe!
Last Thursday evening, second graders treated their families to a celebration of learning, complete with dinner! They just finished a unit called Good Eating, which looks at how food nourishes our bodies and also how foods nourish and create communities. The students designed a menu of healthy and delicious foods to share with their families. They also used this opportunity to share their learning from this year with their families in a student-led conference. The evening was a great success and is sure to become a beloved Clairemont tradition.
Summer Reading
Summer time is reading time!! Ms. D is challenging students to complete this Summer Reading Bingo sheet by doing EVERY activity! Think you can do it? Hopefully this will be a fun way to keep reading and learning this summer. Turn in your completed bingo sheet by the second week of school to be invited to the popsicle party and be allowed to check out extra books! All K and 1st grade students received one in their red folders today, but click the link below if you need to download another copy.
2nd graders - you should have received a bookmark with information about Talley summer reading. If not, check their website for details!
Notes from the Nurse
End-of-School-Year Medication Pick-Up
All student medications (prescription and over-the-counter) must be picked up by the end of the school day on Friday, May 22. Medications are not allowed to remain in the school clinic over the summer.
Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be properly disposed of according to local, state, and federal laws. Students are not permitted to transport medication home. If, for any reason, you are unable to pick up your student’s medication by the last day of school, you must make alternative arrangements by contacting Nurse Manjit in writing before the end of the school year. We appreciate your support and understanding of this important request.

Decatur Soccer invites youth ages 5-13 (rising K-8th grade) to register for its 3v3 Soccer Tournament, powered by Decatur WatchFest 26, a fun, flexible, and community-focused event led by DHS soccer players and coaches. Join us Saturday, June 20, 8:30-noon at the Decatur High School Stadium with plenty of parking and just a short walk from the Decatur MARTA Station and Decatur WatchFest.
Kids can form a team of up to five players and sign up at the link below for just $75 per team (payable separately via GoFan). With no uniforms required (pennies provided) and small-sided 3v3 match play run by our DHS players, this format keeps things simple while maximizing touches, engagement, and fun for every player.
The tournament is open to girls, boys, and co-ed teams (co-ed teams will play in the boys bracket), with divisions based on rising school year: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8.
