Excellence is the Standard
HBMS Parent & Student Newsletter 2026-2027
Principal's Corner😉
Greetings Warrior Families! The first week of November is in the books! As we move further into the second nine weeks, our focus remains on making EVERY day count! With the holiday season quickly approaching, it is important that we maintain our momentum and finish the semester strong.
Attendance Matters – EVERY DAY Counts!
As we continue through the second nine weeks, I want to emphasize the importance of consistent school attendance. Every instructional minute matters, and each day a student misses school represents valuable learning opportunities that cannot always be replicated. With Thanksgiving and Winter Break quickly approaching, we must maximize every opportunity for academic growth.
Our campus attendance goal is 95% or higher, and achieving this goal requires a collective commitment from our students, families, and staff. Please ensure that your student arrives at school on time, attends regularly, and remains engaged throughout the instructional day. Remember, showing up is the first step toward achieving excellence!
Giving Back – The ARC of Fort Bend Raffle Basket
HBMS is proud to support the ARC of Fort Bend through the donation of a raffle basket for its upcoming silent auction. We are requesting gift card donations valued at $10 or more to help create a wonderful basket in support of this meaningful cause. Gift cards may be dropped off in the front office care of Mrs. Simpson in Room 2318 by Wednesday, 11.1126. Whether you donate one gift card or several, every contribution makes a difference. Thank you in advance for helping HBMS demonstrate the power of generosity and community service!
Families, thank you for being our partners in this important work. Your encouragement, involvement, and support make a tremendous difference in the success of our students. Together, we are creating a school community where high expectations, meaningful relationships, and academic excellence are the standard.
Enjoy a wonderful, safe, and restful weekend. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, ready to learn and prepared to RISE!
Excellence is THE Standard; RISE to THE Expectation!
With Warrior Pride & Appreciation,
Mrs. Brooks
Proud HBMS Principal

Reminders...
💻 Check Skyward Regularly
Families are encouraged to review Skyward regularly to monitor grades and missing assignments. Please talk with your student about their academic progress and encourage them to complete and submit assignments with EXCELLENCE. Staying informed allows us to address concerns early and celebrate progress together!
🏫 Every Day Matters!
Consistent attendance is essential to student success. Please ensure your student attends school every day and arrives on time, ready to learn. Every class period provides valuable instruction and learning opportunities that cannot be fully replaced when a student is absent.
🪪 IDs & Tardies
Students are expected to wear their school-issued ID around their neck each day and arrive at every class on time. Families, please continue reinforcing these expectations at home. Consistency between home and school helps our Warriors develop responsibility and strong habits.

Student Attendance
Attendance is taken every class period. Students who miss 20 minutes or more of a class are counted absent for that period, which can impact their overall attendance percentage and course credit. Arriving on time and staying for the full class helps protect attendance.

School Safety
Student and staff safety is a priority at HBMS. Please note a few items as we launch the new year.
- FBISD also has other new procedures in place, such as exterior door audits, to make sure they are all functioning properly.
- Classroom doors will remain locked during the day. Students are taught to seek teacher permission before opening the door for any adult.
- Rhino locks are installed on all classroom doors. These locks are activated in the case of a Lockdown.
- All visitors will be required to show proper ID and be screened through our Raptor system before visiting any part of the campus.
- All DRILLS will be announced; students and staff have been taught that if an announcement is not made indicating a DRILL, that the situation is real.
Information regarding specific safety drills and emergency operation protocols may also be located via the following website: https://iloveuguys.org
All HBMS staff members and students have received training regarding the various protocols.
